My late father was cared for at Oakey’s funeral home South Chapel. As unfortunate as the event and experience was, I couldn’t have imagined a better experience or director. Asia was so sweet, kind and genuinely compassionate. She asked all the right questions and gave my brother and I time to think grieve and plan.

Our experience with Oakey’s South (twice) has been exceptional. They were professional and sympathetic in guiding us through this difficult process and assisting us in making the proper decisions. Every teammate we encountered went above and beyond to try to assist us in our devastation. We are very thankful and appreciative of the services provided by Lee Weaver and his team during this devastating time. I can truly say I trust Oakey’s South and recommend them without hesitation.

My father died in January, we had his body sent to Oakey's South Chapel to be prepared for cremation. We arrive and do the sit-down with a funeral director and his trainee. We went through all our paperwork, urn decision, cremation box, and went back to the room to sign paperwork. After signing he asked how we would like to pay today, we answered that we would do the plan "which my relatives had done in the past" the payment had always been payed in full within the first month. Nobody really shows up to the funeral home with a pocket full of cash during preparation. Especially while people are emotional of losing someone close, its hard enough walking through the doors. Nobody wants to be there and make the final decisions. It would've been more appropriate if he'd asked if you'd like to pay now or need time make financial arrangements before you pick up your loved ones remains and urn. But no, the funeral director said they no longer do that and full payment was due that day. So, my uncle goes down the road to the bank and gets the money out for them. We felt like his body was being held hostage until they received payment. Please call before hand and ask about their arrangements and how they receive payment before you send your loved ones there first. There will not be a next time for us using Oakey's Funeral Home services again. The sad part, is that I know both sides of my family have used them for atleast 38 years.
