The Mitchellville Funeral Home began as Carson Furniture and Undertaking at the turn of the century. New ownership in 1940 and seven years later, preceded Hamilton's purchase of the Moffitt Funeral Home in 1976. As the original location was limited to visitations only, a larger building was purchased and attractively designed in 1989 to provide ample space for the entire funeral service and receptions.
Bob and Ruth Moffitt, owners of the Mitchellville Funeral Home since 1947, opened this second location eighteen years later in Altoona. Hamilton's purchased both Moffitt Funeral Homes in 1976 and continues to serve families with complete service needs including cremation. In order to better serve our families in the greater Altoona area, a complete remodel of our funeral home was completed in 2012.
