Scott and the staff at Wheeler Mortuary provided compassionate, kind and professional services for our family after the death of our father, Duane Ryan. We were touched that they donated a tree in his memory--a thoughtful generous tradition of Wheeler. Our needs were complicated as Dad was to be buried out-of-state. Wheeler helped all the logistics required run smoothly. Scott was also able to live-stream the memorial service on the ENMU Campus. It allowed many more people to be a part of the service and we are so grateful for that. We highly recommend Wheeler to other families when these services are needed. --The Ryan Family

Waited over 30 mins for help Thursday, but ignored by both the director and female employee while they openly ridiculed grieving family members of deceased for 'fighting over every last penny' and acting " like idiots" with a future customer. Director was loud and proud of his unprofessional, callous, opinions bc he knew we were there waiting, but didn't even bother to soften his voice. I finally found viewing room myself, bc neither worker made even the slightest acknowledgement of our presence in over 30 mins. Deceased top was wrinkled,sunflower seeds under casket and trash through the room, middle of afternoon. And a note to the director, when you try to grab a woman's elbow and she Jenks her arm away, it IS NOT AN INVITATION to try to grab her again. ITS HER SAYING TO KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF!!! Don't pretend to be compassionate at funeral bc you have an audience. So disgusted to see the lack of care and respect, wheelers used to be a caring place..

We just lost my mother-in-law and my father-in-law about 2 months apart (Sept 2021 and Nov. 2021).We were obviously devastated, but Scott Reeves and his staff at Wheeler Mortuary made everything smooth and easy. He took care of everything and held our hands through the whole process. He worked with the families to plan and execute both memorial services and cremation arrangements. Wheeler not only 'live streamed' the services, but posted them on their website for others to watch who couldn't make the services. Their professionalism and caring attitude were a breath of fresh air during a very difficult time. I can't say enough good things about Wheeler Mortuary, Scott and his staff. Portales is lucky to have Wheeler mortuary.
