Please keep in mind I've been away from Richmond for about 20 years and my area code is West Coast. When my Aunt passed, I called Watkins because they were the funeral home we used for my grandmother. I called from the hospital the night she passed and scheduled her pickup to the funeral home. There was no indication that Watkins no longer has a physical location in Richmond. I told Mrs. Doris McClenney that the service would be in Richmond, the viewing, the Internment - all here in Richmond. Again, nothing was said about McClenney not having a physical location in Richmond. Eventually I heard from the Church that McClenney's only location is in Charlottesville. So were they planning to drive my aunt back and forth from Charlottesville for the viewing and the service? I eventually paid the just under $3000 they charged to transport my Aunt to a different home here in Richmond. I half-lied and said it was because my Aunt had pre-paid services with someone else. But it was actually because they STILL hadn't told me they were physically in Charlottesville. What would have been their solution if (as happened) we had problems finding an outfit for my Aunt's post hospitalization body? Drive back and forth to Charlottesville until we found something? Meanwhile, Mrs Doris asked at least twice about seeing if I could have the pre-paid services transferred to them. Again, no mention of them being in Charlottesville. At the first meeting with the other home they said the embalming wasn't particular good and they would have to go over it. They didn't charge us for any embalming services. After everything settled down, I realized I was quite upset about the McClenney situation and requested $1,000 of the fee back from McClenney. Yes, they provided the services, but not once did they tell me they were in Charlottesville and in our recent exchanges, they have disregarded all mention of why I'm questioning their honesty and professionalism. I reached out to the BBB hoping they would be open to negotiation. I also sent them a registered letter. McClenney never replied; they wouldn't even attempt a negotiation. And yes, I'm still pursuing other avenues; because this is not cool to do to a grieving family. The photo on the left is their website. My husband and I used the services of Mcclenny and Watkins in May of 2022. It was the best decision at a very trying time. The respect and understanding we received helped us tremendously. The McCllennys' were with us from start to finish. They helped facilitate a beautiful and honorable service for my Sister In Law and we are so thankful. These people are the best and well skilled at what they do.. and they put their heart and soul into it. Everything went smoothly. THANK YOU SO MUCH

Extremely unprofessional!!! We wish we went elsewhere. McClenny did not take care of several things he was supposed to prior to my grandmother's funeral, and while the funeral itself went fine (luckily they had nothing to do with the actual ceremony), right now McClenny OWES ME MONEY since he did not deliver a service that I paid for in my contract! And of course, he has not returned my multiple calls over the last two months (McClenny, you have my number). Terrible customer service. AVOID THIS FUNERAL HOME AT ALL COSTS!!!
