I know this might not mean much around the 5 star reviews of this place but what we experienced with them was unbelievable. We had an incident with the guy that works at the funeral home . My cousin came to the wake at 7. He didn't know my mother in law's last name. “My cousin who is a dark skinned minority asked “is this the only wake going on now?” and the guy told him " you’re not in the right place “ since he wasn't Caucasian like everyone else at the funeral.mind u this was the only wake going on at the time. Then the wake ended at 7:00 and we were all waiting to use the bathroom it was like 7:15 and the guy walks by me (I'm a minority, my husband is white) and says " you know we're closed -"then he shows his watch to me and taps it with his index finger loudly 3 times in my face . His tone of voice was like he was talking down to me. I got so mad. . I told him he was being inconsiderate and then he says " we close at 7- even the family already left!" That's when my husband started getting more upset and said we ARE the family -that's my mother that died and this is her daughter in law and granddaughters . The guy was so rude and uncompassionate .He apologized after but i don’t know if he meant it. Then we told the funeral director in the morning. Apparently the guy already told him his side of the story. And the funeral director's response was " he's been working with us for 10 years." That’s an insensitive response too. He basically did not acknowledge that the employee was out of line. He minimized the situation and sided with the employee .So they basically made it look like my husband overreacted. The employee should have been more professional and tactful in how he spoke to us. We were debating whether we should post a review but now we feel we need to let the public know if you are considering this place that we want you to know what we experienced. Insensitive people should not be working in the funeral home industry. He was clearly racist- we are already mourning and we had to put up with this ! I did not want to put one star either but I had to post a star to post this review. I know they will turn around and post something that makes them seem compassionate but WE KNOW WHAT WE EXPERIENCED! The whole family is still in shock about his behavior. We just lost our loved one and he made it feel WORSE. I know it might not make a difference but we cannot have other people experience this type of behavior too !

Stephen Conte was very kind to my sister and I, handling our mother's passing. She did not want a service, but he handled the cremation, death certificates, etc. He also got her obituary up quickly, which meant a lot to my sister and I, as it was a sensitive way to share the sad news with family and friends while honoring our mother's life. Let me say, Patrick J. Conte Funeral Home is not all about the money; they truly CARE. You are in the right hands with this business during the saddest part of your life. Thank you, Stephen, my sister and I think you are awesome!

Jim, Steve, and entire staff could not have been more helpful, understanding, and compassionate during a very difficult time for our family. All details were handled efficiently and with great care. We were treated with respect and were never pressured into making any decisions. So comforting to have such caring and professional people to assist us during our time of need.
