This is part of the letter I sent to the funeral home. I would first like to thank your funeral home for providing a nice comfortable establishment for family and friends to mourn the lost of Johnny. But that’s about the only nice thing I’m able to say about your services right now. My first issue is when you began rushing the pastor to finish the eulogy so we can rush the the burial site. That was done in very poor taste. The second issue is the fact that there were no police escort. I’m a retired State Trooper, I’ve also been the second in command of one of the largest Sheriffs Office in NC. If you had contacted the appropriate law enforcement agency, they would have provided escort (in most cases) for a nominal fee. The funeral you were rushing us out for had full police escort. The third, and maybe the most egregious behavior I witnessed by your staff was at the burial site. When all the remarks were made, they began to rudely and physically force everyone, including my sister, the deceased spouse, back to their vehicles! There was a ‘short light skinned’ lady that physically grabbed my cousin by the shoulders, turned her around to face the parking lot, and yelled; “go back to you cars!” “There’s another funeral coming up!” I personally was shaking hands with family whom I haven’t seen in years when the lady grabbed my hand and said, “get to your car!” We need to get out of here! This was repeated to practically everyone who drove and walked up to pay their respects to the deceased. I don’t need to tell you how sacred it is to bury a love one. I also don’t need to tell you how the memory of your staffs behavior and that hurtful experience from your staff‘s actions will remain with us forever! I’ve attended many funerals. I’ve never, ever experienced anything like this from a business paid to provide a service. The family don’t work for you, you work for the family. You’re paid to provide a quality professional service. To treat family members with dignity and respect. Instead, you treated your clients like a herd of cattle. Now I know you may bring up the time issue as a factor, or a reason you had to rush everyone out. I hope you don’t, because rude and bombastic behavior is not a substitute for professional, courteous and tactful instructions. Your staff, especially this lady, was very insensitive to the spouse of the deceased, the mother, the children and all other love ones present at the burial site. I plan to post this review on a several websites this week. I also plan to file a formal complaint with the State of South Carolina, because we all feel that we were deprived of the wonderful farewell we had hoped to give Johnny. Instead, we’ve got this ugly bitter memory of how we were rushed at every turn and your staff’s complete lack of decorum when dealing with our family. I hope no other family experience or witness what our family did

Mr. Pinkney will definitely be one of those people that was a true lost to us all. He treated you with care, upmost respect , and dignity.
