A funeral home is not an ordinary place to recommend, which is why the recommendations are so important. They guide you with their experience and help lift the burden off your shoulders, so that the only thing you need to do is be there with your family. It goes without say that death is one of life’s most significant, and difficult, experiences. Holding oneself, one’s family, and loved ones together with beauty and integrity at such a threshold is hard, hard work. And it is precisely this that makes the Lynch Family, and Ed Lynch in particular, so remarkable. The care, the integrity, the warmth, and even the fierce commitment to seeing grieving human beings all the way through the process, is a gift. From selecting a casket to caring for the body to guiding decisions and navigating the tough, albeit often beautiful stuff, they know what they’re doing. We were supported in our choosing a three-day vigil at home, with our mother’s body wrapped in silks and adorned with flowers, which were placed one-by-one by everyone who came to visit. By the third day, she was a beautiful basket of flowers! The home was permeated with peace and grace. The Lynch Family cared for both of my paternal grandparents (1980s and early 2000s), my dad in 2018, many community members, and most recently, as described, my mother (July 2023). All was handled with beauty and conscientiousness. With our mother’s passing, our family was given support to direct decisions where we could, and we were given guidance when we were helpless. Gene was wonderful! I can't imagine anything more heartbreaking than planning my dads funeral but Gene was there for us every step of the way. He was kind, professional and very helpful.
