I can’t say enough great things about Gwen with Bishop Mortuary. She is the real deal. Listens, makes amazing suggests and is incredibly compassionate. During the ceremony I even made an announcement how if anyone ever needed mortuary services Bishop is the way you go! We have used her services for my older brother in 2017, my younger brother in June 2023 and just this past Friday for my Mother June 2024. I’m so grateful and thankful for Gwen!

I’m unsure why there are 1 & 2 star reviews for this company but I am grateful to share my story. One of the loves of my life, my mother, passed away last month. Not knowing where to turn Pastor Gary Watkins confidently and in no uncertain terms guaranteed the mortuary would take great care of my mother. His promise was kept and Ms. Gwen was a big part of that. First, she loves my 2yo twins- win! 😉 Second…just a few details…the San Diego funeral date was set but due to Labor Day we had to move it up 7 days and then fly Mom back home to TN for another funeral service and burial. They made it happen! Ms. Gwen was effectively and efficiently on the task and there was NOTHING I had to do but gladly pay them the very reasonable cost. Ms. Gwen treated Mom as if she was part of her family - as it should be. Mom looked great, was dressed beautifully and handled with the professionalism that can be rare in this day. Ms. Gwen thought of everything! Pastor Watkins and Ms. Gwen were so easy to work with and I truly thank God for their hard work, dedication, knowledge , honesty and experience which is top-notch! Thank you again Bishop Mortuary and I urge you, the reader, to trust them with your loved one.

This review is looooong overdue. Gwen, has had my personal business for over a decade. She was open-minded enough, decades ago, to understand the burial procedures of Muslims and was respectful in carrying out her duties. My son was murdered. Beaten to death by "so-called friends." Gwen spent numerous hours reconstructing his face so that we could prepare his body for burial and did not have to witness the state and condition they left him in.
