Shirley and the team at Preferred Cremation & Burial were incredibly kind, accommodating, and patient with me and my mom as I made arrangements for my dad. I like that they are a Veteran-owned business, which was meaningful as my dad wanted to be buried at Miramar National Cemetery. On top of that, their rates are competitive, and we received a discount on the direct cremation because my dad was a Veteran. They handled the paperwork for the death certificate, the burial permit, as well as coordinated with the hospital and the cemetery to schedule the service. They allowed us to pick up his cremains, and would have also delivered them directly to the cemetery if we had wanted. As for the Veteran experience, they procured the military flag and scheduled the military honors (which is separate from the cemetery scheduling). Literally all we had to do was show up at the cemetery. As a child who wasn't the legal next of kin, they walked us through the process so my mom could grant me access to be the point of contact which was valuable to me supporting my mom. I feel comfortable with details and ask a lot of questions when I am not sure about how something is going to work, or when I am learning a new process. They were always available for my calls and emails, and made sure that I never felt like I was burdening anyone. I really appreciate that. I currently plan to work with these people again when my mom's time comes, and I will have them listed as a preferred vendor for my own future services.

Excellence excellence excellence !!!!! When my mom passed away I was devastated and I did not know where to even begin planning for her services. I’m so grateful for everyone at preferred cremation and burial because they took care of everything for me. They’re kind Courteous and respectful. Mark and George went out of their way to assist me and everything I need including finding a burial plot at the last minute. I’m so grateful for them. My mother’s Celebration of life service was so beautiful.

Patient, resourceful, kind, very professional , and loving staff are a few of the nicest adjectives that I can use for Preferred Cremation and Burial, 6404 University Ave. San Diego, CA 92115. I was recommended to this facility by one of my friends. I went back and forth from cremation to burial and Mark, the owner and Cardie who works at the front desk, were very patient with guiding me on how to make the necessary changes. I could tell in the tone of their voices that they were very nice people. Mark shared his personal number so I could call at anytime with questions or concerns, which was amazing! Real Peace came over me when I went to the visitation. Ralph, the technician had a picture of my husband on a large screen as I walked in with a smile on his face standing in front of a flag, with the U.S. Army emblem also on the screen. We had sent in digital photos and he chose a perfect one for this display. He also did and outstanding job with the memorial photos and the online webcast of the funeral and the obituary as well. So much is offered here. The online webscast was perfect for family from out of town who could not attend. Also during the visitation, Stephanie greeted my daughter and I in soft kind words letting us know that she was there for us if we needed anything. George did the makeup for my husband and he looked marvelous at the visitation! Mark also helped with the makeup. Both of them did an outstanding job! I will remember how good he looked in his casket more that how he looked when I last saw him when he was very ill. It made my soul happy! Before the funeral, Wendall , their limo driver, picked my family and me up in one of their limos. He arrived early and patiently waited for us and drove safely to and from the service. I felt like royalty with the service! There was also plenty of seating for our family and friends at the mortuary. My husband was a 20 year retired veteran, and the effort and honor that was given for his service was well represented here! I recommend using this mortuary for your loved one!
