The Bear Funeral Home serves families with tender care during the loss of loved ones. I have attended several visitations and funerals there. The Bear family are wise in action and speech with the utmost care and consideration of the families and visitors who offer condolences. They offer a service that isn’t old and outdated but one that is rich with class and comfort verses the more corporate modern style funeral homes. I am drawn to the small town of Churchville, VA and the country atmosphere surrounding the funeral home. The huge Sycamore trees and the small creek in such a beautiful area make it a gem in my book. Judy, Will Bear and Jill are the sweetest people you could meet. The Bear Funeral Home is truly the last of it’s kind.

They handled both of my Grandparents , my first husband, and recently my son. Always compassionate, concerned and very professional with a very personal touch. I put Will in a pinch to hold my son's service a little over 24 hours after his passing. Will and Judy stayed up all night to make it happen. Both were exhausted but made it happen. They are truly comforting when you need them. I could ask Will questions and made time to answer them. My prearrangements are already made with them. They have been there for us many times and are like family to us.

I went there this evening to pay my respects and was waiting in line the person in front of me was told by Judy Bear "what do you hope to accomplish" while trying to ask her about the line for viewing. He turned to me and asked what is the problem? After that display by one of the Bear family I and the other group gave up and left since it was clear that only certain people were welcome there. I have seen and received a better reception at the most seedy and poorly rated fast food restaurant much less a funeral home! If they are this bold about showing their disdain for people who have traveled hours to visit with a family that has suffered a loss what are they doing behind the backs of those who have entrusted the earthly remains of their loved ones to their care? I would not pick the carcass of a poor skunk from a roadway to be handled by these people! The skunk would deserve much better! Let Judy Bear continue to be the face of you business and you will be lucky to service the skunk!
