This a long post, but please read. (This place doesn’t even deserve one star..) Let me just begin saying this funeral home was AWFUL to deal with. This was a bit heartbreaking to write even now. Because no family should have to write this, much less go through it! My nana was buried Friday, and a good chunk of people showed up, but my heart knew there should’ve been more people. Come to find out, the funeral home told NUMEROUS people my Nana’s funeral was Cancelled! It was not. Knowing now that there were more people that wanted to come pay their respects and was told her funeral was cancelled breaks my heart. It made me think that my nana wasn’t as loved as I thought she was.. This funeral home was a headache to deal with. The Saturday after my nana had passed away, we had went there to begin planning her funeral. We were told at first that it was going to be $10,000. We were in shock, and we couldn’t afford $10,000. So we asked if there were any payment plans, the director didn’t hesitate to say “NO!”. Then said “we’ll if you can’t afford that, you can cremate her for $2,500.” I said no. So, I called other funeral homes. I ended up with Carr Funeral Home in guntersville. Come to find out that director oversaw everything at Adams Brown Funeral Home. He of course never and RARELY got back to me on any of the “packages” he “offered”. So, ending up with Russell (the director at Adams Brown) he continued to forget who my nana was, what her name was EVERY SINGLE TIME we talked on the phone. After numerous phone calls, I ended up finding out a few of Nana’s policies were good and got everything down to $1,995. We could breath.. Yet, we couldn’t. Thursday, my fiancé and I went up there trying to pay for it and we hit a roadblock. Said we had to pay all of it up from and couldn’t be split up. Then said “well you need to pay, because she’s be in there for 6 days..” like.. okay? We understood that. But what was he going to do..? Dump her out like trash. He was rushing us to burying her. It was hard to even grieve because I was scared he was going to mishandle my nana.. the lady who gave her life to taking care of her grandchildren.. I think not.. Finally, my mother in law helped us with paying her funeral, and Russell tried running her card TWICE in attempt to take the money twice.. then accused us of lying saying “well I don’t have a receipt so there’s no way it was paid for..” I was on the verge of tears.. my nana was in the chapel in an open casket and I was at risk of losing access to her because he was money hungry.. Then.. my absolutely shattered my heart was the grave digging people.. they didn’t ask us to carry her casket. They took control and ALMOST DROPPED MY NANA! This vault we paid for looked like they had spray painted it silver.. it looked awful. My heart was broken.. this is what I gave my nana and knowing I could’ve done better.. she didn’t deserve this treatment.. her flowers were tossed on the ground so carelessly before she was even in the grave.. like.. I’m crying just writing this. My Nana’s celebration of life was a mockery to this man.. SHE DESERVED BETTER. You should have known better! This funeral home was rude, incompetent and completely unprofessional. I hope people seek out other funeral homes instead of this one.. My nana was a beautiful woman who deserved a beautiful send off. Not this sham of a funeral Russell gave us in his way of “helping our family grieve”. Shame on you, Russell. Shame on every single person working there.

Heartless. Unprofessional. Our entire family is traumatized by how this funeral home prepared our loved one. They were also in a hurry to get things done leaving everyone in shock when they closed the casket in front of all of the family and friends. Did not instruct anyone what to do or where to go leaving causing complete chaos. When asked why it was done this way the response was I don’t know where you are from but this is the way we do it here. The funeral director stood over a sobbing 10 year old who just lost their mother at the graveside rushing him so they could pack it up and go home. I would never recommend this funeral home to anyone. They have no compassion or professionalism. It is ALL about the money. I wouldn’t even give them 1 star.

Adams Brown has done most of my family's funerals and never had a bad thought. Today we buried our Mother and it was a disaster. She knew she had terminal cancer and had laid out what she wanted. She didn't get it. I am astonished how bad this went. We got no direction on what we needed to do compaired to what they would do. Songs were wrong and unprepared. Poem my mother wanted in obituary was forgotten. This was so disappointing that if my mother could have seen she would have had a come apart. Now I acknowledge maybe we didn't do our part but I don't do this every day. I feel totally let down.
