This cemetery is large, the grounds are wide open and spatial. There are a few chapel / large mausoleum buildings on the premise sectioning out designated resting areas. (Ie. The Prayer Garden, etc.) When entering through the eastside official gateway, there is a descent into the tailored landscape of the gorgeous bell tower in which plays Fur Elise Beethoven ( organ style ) and other melodic piano symphonys capturing the peaceful yet intense emotion assimilated with all things DEAD. It's definitely a vibe, Beyond the bell tower there is A beautiful fountain pond shaped into a cross , geese gather here to socialize and bathe . Even a black squirrel was spotted darting around the graves. Blue jays are rampant and a Bald Eagle was spotted somewhere in the distance. Crows for days. Anywho, after the pond the layout ends at the Chapel of Memories. Both masouleam for multiple allowed family plots and a chapel designed beautifully with stained glass motif and carved wood decor and original iron gate carving entrances. Perhaps even equipped with an organ as well. The rest of the graveyard contains. Hillside of shady windy roads circulating throughout which gives way to the large acreage this cemetery is working with. In other words, lots of room for burial. There is a high point facing west offering an amazing view of downtown Minneapolis and most of all in the pathway of the setting sun hence the name Sunset Funeral Home. This gorgeous time of day shines golden reflecting and casting gleams of sun rays off the polished granite headstones creating a very magical and tranquil experience for visitors. This is a very spiritual place to spend time within, the dazzling wildlife and majestic trees make it evermore an ethereal experience in itself. This was extremely devastating for my sister and I who lost our oldest sister . The compassion and empathy was exceptional…The gentleman who helped us the most was Robert…this man is exceptional in his duties and family liaison. I can’t thank him enough for the professionalism and empathy he showed. Now this was true with every staff member here but I had the most dealing with Robert.. death is inevitable but who you chose to be with in the mortuary business is not….i would choose this staff above any other…

The staff at Sunset was very kind, in my personal situation, I had purchased cemetery plots from a private party, who had inherited them, and so the services were regarding primarily internment into one of those spaces. The person who passed was my mother and she had arrangements through a neighboring funeral director, but the location and the care from the Sunset team was cherished. They were wonderful and the cemetery is beautifully maintained.
