We can’t recommend Stark enough. They were there for our family at a very difficult time, and made the entire process as easy as possible. The entire staff acted with compassion and professionalism throughout the entire process. Dwayne and Liz were our main points of contact and we cannot say enough positive things about how they organized and executed every aspect of our visitation, funeral mass, and burial ceremonies. We took great solace in the fact that our loved one was being cared for by Stark.

I knew that we were in good hands when they came and got my dad, The employees are extremely sweet and the place is absolutely stunning and the prices are very fair compared to other funeral homes. My dad looked like a healthier version of himself. It was beautiful experience I'm so glad we chose Stark. His obituary was beautiful just everything was perfect.

I cannot give enough stars to our experience with Stark Funeral Services in Ypsilanti. I cannot comment on holding a service at Stark, because we did a simple graveside burial to accompany a natural burial at Marble Park Cemetery, Milan. Stark did everything to locate the unstained simple pine casket we requested, as well as doing transportation, preparation of the body, and assistance at the graveside service. Funeral planning and having a funeral are not common things for us to do, and it can be uncomfortable and stressful. The personal care I received from Stark through all the planning and the day of the service were simply extraordinary. All of us want our funeral provider to be professional, knowledgeable, and thorough. Stark is all of that. But in addition, I cannot express how caring, empathetic, personal, and flexible they were at the same time. The combination of completely professional and deeply personal is a completely rare combination in my experience. That is the part that I believe sets them apart, and is the reason for my 5 star review. Duane and Mike, co-owners and funeral directors made sure all my questions were thoroughly answered, but also that they truly knew me, and what was important to me. They were there to offer a personal touch of care, comfort, and support. They also said "we'll take care of it" in areas like contacting Social Security, and helped us file life insurance claims. Every contact I have had with every single employee has been a positive one. I worked mostly with Duane in the planning, and the process was without a pressured sales pitch of any kind. It turned out I was planning within a couple of months of my loved one's passing. No deposit was needed, no contract was signed. I was made aware fully of all costs involved, and was given a copy of those. At the time of my loved one’s death, it was Mike and another employee, Brianna, who came to the care facility where my loved one passed. They brought a beautiful quilt and gave my loved one a respectful exit from the memory care home where he had passed. I felt that friends had arrived to help me, and indeed they had. I feel not only that I found professionals, but that I found caring friends. That is really something extraordinary to be able to say. I cannot suggest strongly enough you call them today to make an appointment for pre-planning. It is not too soon and having everything talked through in advance, when my mind was more clear, was a real plus. There will be no pressure or heavy sales pitch, just good advice and excellent guidance. Highly recommend! P.S. to add after I wrote this: P.S. to add – they conducted a meaningful candlelight memorial service in January for all of us who lost loved ones in 2023, and are currently providing ongoing grief support as well. This, like so many other things about them, is an unusual and beautiful thing.
