I am totally disgusted by Dr. Jeremiah Martin's behavior when I decided to transfer my mother's body to another, more professional funeral home. His demeanor instantly changed, and he tried to charge me 2k for the transfer fee and refrigeration (no other services/actions had been discussed, consented to, or performed). My mother's body was there for less than 24 hours when I informed him of my intent to transfer on Friday afternoon. Out of greed and spite, he delayed the release of my mother's body until after the weekend, the following Monday! This man is a fraud! I was initially turned off by the driver he sent to the hospital to pick up my mother. This guy arrived seemingly tipsy with his clothes disheveled and making casual, inappropriate remarks as I and my family were grieving our loss. My instincts were to immediately turn and run in the opposite direction! At that moment, I felt I had no choice because Methodist Hospital did not have a morgue and the staff were pressuring us to find a funeral home before nightfall. I honestly chose the first place that picked up the phone. In hindsight, I should have transferred her to a city morgue so that my family and I would have the necessary time to search for a proper facility. I thank God that I found a professional funeral home the next day. The 2k Dr. Martin tried to charge me was retaliatory and predatory in nature. I learned that a small transfer fee is typical, but charging for refrigeration is not usually customary (particularly if he had released her immediately or the next morning). Shame on Dr. Martin for trying to take advantage of a grieving family! I'm thankful I listened to my instincts and had my mother transferred away from Prepared Place. I made this decision because I was disheartened that Dr. Martin openly discussed another client who'd angrily walked out shortly after I entered his facility. He followed her out, and when he returned, he stated words to the effect that she was upset because she was still speaking with him, as he turned his attention to greet and speak with me. He then stated to me that his business with her was already completed before I walked in and that he was just participating in small talk. He also stated words to the effect that her being upset was immaterial because he already "had her money." He then proceeded to tell me that she lost her son and shared details of that tragedy, which was none of my business. I became increasingly mistrustful of him the more I listened. I was done when it dawned on me that he kept dodging my requests for a written price list of the various service packages he had to offer. I quickly realized that I was in the lion's den and needed to transfer my mother to another facility immediately. This is not the behavior of a professional funeral director! I should have done my research. This is not a proper place to send your loved ones. Restland Funeral Home is a much better option. They are honest, respectful, honorable, and compassionate. Restland will treat you and your deceased loved ones with professional grace and fairness. They honored my original budget and did not allow Dr. Martin's attempted predatory charges to impact me in any way. Please do yourself a favor. DO NOT do business with Prepared Place Funeral Home.

I love their service. They made my dad look so so good. He actually looks like he was sleeping and he looked younger. And Mr. Martin is the best. He was sympathetic to our needs and he was very nice. The people there are so nice I would recommend prepared place funeral home 110 percent they are the best.
