My family is very small and we were given the news very suddenly that my Father was at end of life. While I still didn't believe it I thought it would be smart to go ahead and find a funeral home for future used. My parents live in a Newnan Georgia which is predominantly White and everyone seems to use the same funeral home. I mean this in no offense but I have seen some predominantly White owned and operated funeral home care for Black deceased and there was something off. My first plan was to call the popular funeral home operator and ask if they did make up services for Black people but it felt awkward and I didn't want to offend them or walkaway with any questions. I Googled Newnan Black Funeral Homes and came up with 2. I choose Roscoe Jenkins because of their professional website. Yes, I know you shouldn't judge an establishment based on a website so I called. Mrs. Linette Ward answered right away and I explained through tears that my Father was not given much time and though I thought he was going to make I wanted to make arrangements. She met with my Mom the next day and from walking in, through the tears she was so patient and caring. I didn't know what to do, we didn't know what we wanted and she could have attempted to gouge us and she didn't. She stepped out when my Mom and I need to discuss things and gave us a fair price package which included so much more than we thought. When my Father did pass away we had to go back and we were much more in angst and again she was patient and caring. When we told her that we didn't care for the caskets that was available she recommend a casket geared towards my Father who was in Air Force. We wanted it but we knew it was going to be outside of the budget we'd set. As my Dad always said, you have to live after the funeral. Ms. Ward called and did her magic and the upcharge for the casket was so reasonable. For reasons that are too long to explain we had to have a visitation that wasn't planned and again. Mrs. Ward took care of. She took care of everything that I could have asked for. I can say that this painful, heartbreaking experience would have been 100 times worse if were for Roscoe Jenkins and Mrs. Ward. I could go on and on but trust me, if you are in this awful experience please give them a shot. Their not the biggest but to me was the best.
