Had my mother's service at this establishment however I would never recommend anyone to use them. After the service they become very unprofessional and disrespectful. Not returning calls when they say, had difficulty with getting death certificate or even my mother's ashes which they disregarded my wishes of her being spilt or even in a urn. Instead she was dropped off late at night at my house along with comment of I should be happy I at least have and that's all that should matter. She was in a plastic box and then the director informed me he would come back with the urns and spilt her remains at my kitchen table. I am still waiting on that to happen and it's been over a month now.

I’m not sure when this funeral home went downhill, but my guess would be when the “Kell” was added to the end. I would give this place negative stars if I could. It hasn’t always been a bad place. 30 years ago we held my moms services here and for many of my family members since then. Naturally, having grown up in Jamestown, this is the first place that I called to handle my Dad’s services when he passed recently. And I called…and called again. I called SEVEN TIMES in one day. It was a Saturday and I started calling at 9am. The answering service told me to call back after 15 minutes if I didn’t hear from “her”. I didn’t want to be a bother so I actually waited closer to an hour. I did that seven times and not once did Gretchen call me back. I see now that the funeral home is closed Saturdays so I’m guessing my dad just didn’t choose the right day to die. I was appalled at the lack of caring that this funeral home shows. I ended up calling a different funeral home in Xenia at 9pm that night (McColaugh…go there..they are AMAZING!!). I’m not sure if they just expected my dad’s body to stay where it was until they felt like working, which I’m guessing wouldn’t have been until Monday. At that point, we decided that they did not care enough about having our business and if they won’t call me back right after my dad died then what kind of service would they even offer our family. I’m pretty sure it would have been a terrible experience for 4 kids who were struggling with losing their only living parent. Now, I am so thankful that they never called me back because we had the most amazing, caring, and helpful set of directors from McColaugh Funeral Home to lead us through this heartbreaking experience.

We were very pleased with how Gretchen handled our mother's funeral. Everyone at Powers-Kell were very helpful, and kind and worked with us to be able to have the service at our church. We want to thank them for all they did during this difficult time.
