I am absolutely disgusted by the lack of professionalism from this place! I came to pick up the cremated remains of my grandmother today, I ordered my own urn and dropped it off with them 3 weeks ago and also asked for some ashes to be separated for jewelry for all her grandkids. I came in and they tried to hand her to me in a cardboard box that looked like it was from an old Amazon delivery. Upon asking why she wasn't in her urn they brought out paperwork and told me I chose to provide my own urn. I responded by saying I knew that I've already brought it too you. They were very taken aback and proceeded to ask me to describe the urn. While answering her questions she continuously interrupted me to shush me because another family was having their service. I left this place in tears after waiting a long time for her to transfer my grandmother into her urn and separate some of her ashes because they forgot in the first place! It broke my heart to see the blatant disrespect they treated my loved one with. I will never recommend this mortuary to anyone!

My mother passed away suddenly on Thanksgiving while she was visiting us in Pahrump. It was devastating, unexpected, and so very tragic. Sheila at Pahrump Valley Mortuary was like a guardian angel guiding us through this most difficult circumstance. We had to arrange to have my Mom transported home to California, several viewings, embalming, dressings, makeup, and so much more. Sheila was there every step to help us. She was so compassionate to our family and I will always be grateful for the great work they they did for my mother and our family. I also want to mention that I called around for pricing and Pahrump Valley Mortuary was very reasonable for the service that they provided. I hope no one ever has to lose a loved one so suddenly and tragically as we did, but if you find yourself in need of such services we highly recommend Pahrump Valley Mortuary. Urgent! Read this before you call Pahrump Family Mortuary! This is about (their) unethical and deceptive tactics/practices. You have to chose at least one star to get the opportunity to post the review??? Pahrump Family Mortuary has certainly raised the bar high when it comes not only to unethical tactics, but also deceptive practices. Imagine your elderly loved one is sitting in (their) office and a staff member of Pahtump Valley Mortuary explaining the cost(s) in the contract, either for a cremation, or a burial. If choosing a cremation, you find out that they are being charged $40.00 for no more than a simple black Tupper-ware box, that at best, may have cost them five dollars to put your loved one's ashes into. Oh and then there's this; If you want to split the ashes 2 or 3 ways and have it mailed, then you’re going to pay at least $110.00 dollars for each mailing of those ashes, to your love ones. But wait, no really, there's more!…the biggest rip off is just when you think you are done with the paper work, they pull out a white page that has nothing to do with the cremation or burial contract! They slip in an additional charge that they want your loved one(s) to sign for, on a white piece of paper, above and beyond the cost of the contract…yes, additional costs! Why would they do that, if they were not hiding the costs from the State Auditor?! Ahh,... let's shed some light on the 'costly' handling of the insurance assignment; which means that the insurance company requires in writing, from the beneficiary, (to) verify the amount being paid to the mortuary, and then confirmed by the beneficiary of the insurance policy. The form asks for the personal information including name, address, DOB, and social security number and their signature to be notarized. That’s it!; and (the) Pahrump Family Mortuary then slips in an extra cost of $125.00 dollars to be exact, for no more than basic information on page 1. Did you catch that? Page One! It takes less than a minute for the beneficiary to fill out. But my question is this; why do they hide it from the State by excluding it from the contract? Answer; More than likely because it’s an illegitimate charge and probably not allowed (to be charged). The problem that I have with the extra cost of $125.00 dollars, is the fact that it's being charged in addition to and on top of their (already) exorbitant costs for the (very) little that they're having to do,... just a fax or an email to the insurance company?! That’s (the) astronomical expense?! Fax or email? It must be being transferred from the Mortuary to the Insurance Company, via cables/wiring made of GOLD! Read all about it! Get this!…. They charged $275.00 dollars to drive less than 5 miles round trip to pick up the deceased. Then they charged another $565.00 dollars to handle/process the body for cremation plus they charge another $40.00 dollars for a cardboard box to cremate the body. Did you know this? My motivation for writing this review is to stop deceptive and unethical practices from happening to others and their loved ones. We need to stop Pahrump Family Mortuary from ripping off our loved ones during their lowest time when they've just lost a loved one. * Moral to the story? You can fill out this paperwork Yourself, at no cost.
