I am writing this review because I am a firm believer that when a business goes above and beyond what is required in their duties, then it needs to be made known to the public. Oris P. Jones Funeral Establishment in South Hill, Virginia is one of those businesses. On Saturday, April 23, 2022, this funeral home handled the services for my late father, Herbert Hoover Evans. Needless to say, the service was beyond any expectations that I could have had. From the initial contact on the day of Dad's passing to the service itself, the staff provided the highest quality of service possible. Every detail was followed to the letter, timelines were met, the comforting and welcoming atmosphere at the funeral home during the visitation/viewing, and the personal attention to myself and my siblings truly made us feel like family instead of clients. Oris P. Jones has been serving our family for as long as I can remember, and never once have we had reason to complain. I want to thank Joseph M. Johnson, Jr., Mary Johnson-Fields, and the entire staff for co-ordinating a Homegoing Service that was befitting the wonderful man that my father was and the many lives that he impacted in life. I highly recommend them to any family looking for quality service in their time of need.

The funeral service and care for my South Hill deceased relatives have been lovely. However, with this last experience, we are still waiting to acquire the Military Headstone my brother-in-law should have received pre-COVID (October 2019). Furthermore, to add insult to injury, Mary nor the affiliates of Oris P Funeral Home will return my calls or attempt to resolve this matter even though I have discussed it with them. Very upsetting. It's terrible enough Peter Baskerville died alone. I commend Mary and the staff for handling such a horrific experience with grace, but there is still no proper closure for him or our immediate family who lives out of town—still waiting.
