My family has used this funeral home as long as I can remember. Before my mother passed away she requested McNarys as her funeral home for her creamation. I called McNarys and they sent two men to transport her body from the Winters area to the Woodland funeral home. I went to the funeral home the morning of her passing and gave the funeral director all of the pertinent information for the death certificate. They went over all of the charges and Information for the process. A long story short, we found another funeral home in Sacramento, much less expensive than McNarys Funeral home. They charged almost $300 to transport her and a few hundred dollars for storing her remains for one day at their morge. We Called the following day and told them we were using another funeral home, Sierra Funeral Home. Sierra charged us a little over $1200 for everything including the transportation cost for moving her from Woodland to Sacramento. The most disappointing part was how quickly they sent the death certificate information to be completed. I was impressed how quickly it was done but a lot of basic information was inaccurate. They listed the wrong address, the wrong name for my mothers father and many more inaccuaracies. I felt like it was sabotaged because we decided to use another funeral home. The director was very business like and his used car salesman style was not what we needed during our time of grief. The total bill for McNarys was going to be almost $4000. McNarys charged us $800 for the transportation and after Sierra moved her and provided their wonderful service it was less than $1,300. I am writing this because I am so disappointed in their process and I don't want anyone else to have to deal with this company. Note: they own Kraft on Woodland as well

This could have been a wonderful review but alas it was not to be. Because we were out of town and the time of my father's death, and we were given the name of this funeral home by the nursing home we did not shop around. The arrangements for cremation were made via fax and email and Mr. Wiggins was so kind as to pick up my father's rosary from the nursing home so that my father could be cremated with it. When we returned to town a week later I met with Mr. Wiggins who assured me that because my father was a World War II veteran, he was entitle to a military chaplain, rifle volleys and an honor guard to fold and present the flag and that it was customary for the funeral home to make these arrangements. They scheduled the burial for the 26th of December and when we got to the pavilion our VA attendant said that there would be no honor guard or rifle or chaplain because none had been requested by the funeral home. I collected my father's remains and returned home. I have since made the arrangements for a rescheduled funeral with the VA cemetery. They have been wonderful. I have also been able to arrange the honor guard, rifle volleys and a chaplain. Had I known there would be no follow through by the funeral home I would have gladly done this myself and could have saved a lot of embarrassment and added grief for the family. The bottom line is that if your loved one is a veteran or active duty military, please make sure that you make the arrangements with the VA yourself. Unfortunately, there is no professionalism or follow through by McNary's Funeral Home.

Double check your contract and ask questions cause you will be charged for stuff you may not understand.
