My husband's family had a brief service at the smaller chapel in the back of the Louisville Memorial Gardens West cemetery for his brother on Friday, Aug 9, 2024. When the family arrived at the chapel we found no lights on and NO AIR CONDITIONING. Needless to say, it was very stuffy and uncomfortable for our loved ones in attendance. This service was arranged early in the week so the cemetery staff had plenty of notice to have had the chapel lit and cool. Having spoken to Lisa the day before the service to clarify how much time we were allowed for the service, she seemed befuddled as to why we were having a song, eulogy and comments by a preacher at their chapel instead of at the funeral home. She said there would be no need for a microphone (which we would have provided), but those in the back could not hear the eulogy or preacher. She also made it clear we had no longer than 20 minutes to complete the service or we would be charged extra. So, we wrapped up the service in 20 minutes, and quite honestly, we couldn't hardly bear to be in the hot chapel for even that long. It was as if we weren't welcome to use the chapel even though it was reserved for us. The grounds around the burial plot had not been cut, and while we realize there is a lot of ground to maintain, but it seems when an area is going to be the site of a burial it would be cut. We chose this cemetery because my mother-in-law is buried there, her son is now beside her, but we would not recommend having a chapel service at this cemetery. It was a dreadful experience.

My great grandmother’s funeral was today and everything went beautifully. We weren’t sure what to expect as we have never had a funeral at this location before or even had to plan one before. My grandma had everything planned out already so we didn’t have much to do on our end, however Alyson was absolutely fabulous when it came to still getting our input for things that grandma didn’t cover and respecting all of our wishes for ANYTHING. Although we didn’t see Paola as much, she also made quite the impression in the short time we spent with her. Alyson and Paola made this process just a little easier with their kindness & professionalism. They even went out of their way to fix the flowers for us when they seen they weren’t the right shade of blue we were aiming for. It truly felt like they were friends and not strangers by taking care of our needs/wants and continuously checking on us to make sure we didn’t need anything. Sorry for the long review but I was blown away by how comfortable we felt having these people guide us through this difficult time. Thank you Alyson & Paola!

Alyson went above and beyond when it came to helping with my dad’s funeral arrangements. She helped guide me through what I needed to do when I felt overwhelmed. She was always available when I had questions. And I could tell that she actually cared about what I was going through. Don’t let her age fool you, she’s been in the business for quite a while and obviously has great passion for what she does. If Alyson is helping with your loved one’s funeral arrangements, you couldn’t be in better hands.
