TL;DR: the company allowed their personal biases to interfere with their professionalism. My experience with Gill Brothers Funeral Home was deeply disappointing and unprofessional. While my wife and I were legally divorced in 2018, we never separated in our hearts and minds. We remained by each other’s sides through everything and were in the process of remarrying. Despite this, her family, who had shown ongoing hostility towards me, took full control of her funeral arrangements and excluded me from any decision-making. This resulted in several mistakes, such as the use of outdated photos using her teenage years, because they had none, which did not reflect who she was in her later life. I had hundreds of recent photos that the family chose to ignore. Additionally, her hyphenated name, which she kept up until her passing, was not properly represented, despite recent financial documents showing this fact. It’s also worth mentioning that Gill Brothers Funeral Home may have a personal or family connection with a member of her family, which could explain why my attempts to correct these issues were ignored. I left two voicemails and called a specific person named Dan three times, but never received any response. The fact that my calls were disregarded suggests they may have shared the same unfounded prejudice towards me. A funeral home should be a place of compassion and professionalism, but instead, they showed bias and judgment, further adding to the pain of losing my wife. As mentioned before, this situation is not about care or concern but strictly about legalities and money. The family’s priorities were not about honoring my wife but focused on law and finances, and the funeral home seemed to align with this approach. I strongly recommend seeking another funeral home that genuinely respects all loved ones involved, without personal biases.

I am immensely grateful to the Gill brothers, especially Steve, for their exceptional efforts in organizing and assisting with the service for my father's funeral. Steve and Brenna were truly remarkable, going above and beyond in every aspect. Their dedication and compassion were beyond compare, and I couldn't have asked for a more supportive team during such a difficult time.
