Our experience was inexcusably poor. The funeral home was not responsible for the urn that came in broken, but our grief at losing a loved one was only compounded by the technical issues that disrupted the service. Instead of the photos we had submitted, we watched a scrolling screensaver during the eulogy. Instead of a video of treasured memories set to carefully chosen music, we had a stop and start mess of a few seconds of song interrupted by a frozen screen, over and over. There had obviously been no rehearsal of the audio and visual presentation to ensure things would work smoothly. There was a still photo in a frame that hadn’t been set up until family and guest were already arriving. This should have been set up in advance, reviewed and any glitches corrected prior to the service. Instead of a meaningful and dignified farewell, we now have a painful memory of how it should have been, but wasn’t.
