My mother had made prearrangements with this funeral home some years ago, before it was sold to North Star, a large national funeral home company. When I came in to finalize the plans for her out of state burial, I was shocked that the entire staff had turned over. Aside from the decor, there really wasn't anything about my experience that felt Jewish; it was pretty generic. The funeral director didn't seem familiar with Jewish customs. It took some effort on my part to find out the place was under different ownership/management - maybe things have changed, but Beth Israel staff in 2023 was not forthcoming about this. In addition, there was a significant delay in receiving death certificates because of the funeral director's sloppy handwriting they were sent to the wrong address. I was further shocked that in light of the funeral home's error, it was a fight to get them to resend another set of certificates with tracking and expedited (due to the additional cost I was told that was not something they did due to cost).
