My aunt passed away on May 14, 2024. Wesley was present at the home when we pulled up to be with my cousin. He was very gentle and comforting from the moment he met us in the driveway. I watched Wesley and his coworker lay my aunt on the stretcher, and they did it with such care and compassion. Wesley, then, came back and answered all the questions that I had. When we met with Wesley at the funeral home a few days later, he made the atmosphere lighter for us. Instead of funeral talk, we had conversations about other things, since I know his wife, in between the difficult parts of the conversations. I was, even, able to reach out to Wesley on Facebook with questions and the picture that was used for my aunt's obituary. Yesterday was my aunt's memorial service. Wesley and Butch did an amazing job. Wesley met us in the parking lot and guided us into the church. He, then, guided us through what would happen during the service and, when it was time for us to walk to the front, I do believe he was singing "Amazing Grace". After the service, he made it a point to instruct each vehicle on how the procession would work, and then when we arrived at her interment, Wesley and Butch made every effort to make us comfortable. I will forever be grateful for Wesley and Butch. They did a phenomenal job and we are blessed.

Katie, Rosemary, Mitch and all of the staff at Bass-Smith were absolutely fantastic to work with in preparation for my mother’s funeral arrangements. Every detail was carefully planned and delivered exceeding my expectations. I highly recommend them to anyone in the greater Hickory area. The Jack Bass building adjacent to the funeral home was the perfect venue for our funeral reception and receiving.

What an incredible experience my family and I had with Bass-Smith funeral home. When Bass-Smith Funeral arrived at my mother’s home to pick up her body shortly after she passed, Chris came in, introduced himself and gave us his sincere condolences for our loss. He then took the time to answer our questions and let us know that we were welcome to come to the funeral home the next day either morning or afternoon so they could review the services they had available to grant my mother’s wishes for her funeral. The next day we met with Wesley who reviewed the viewing and cremation package that suited my mother’s wishes. The cost was incredibly reasonable. He saw to it that we had a wonderful, caring Pastor for her services that took the time to contact us and learn about the type of person my mother was so he could provided a personalized service. Wesley also saw to ordering the flowers for her casket on our behalf which were beautiful and after the service, they delivered the flowers to the local nursing home as per my mother’s wishes. When we arrived for the service, we were in awe at how perfectly they captured my mother the way she was before her illness. She looked absolutely beautiful! What an incredible job they did. They also offered their assistance in completing the life insurance forms even after I paid them for the services. This is one of the few funeral homes left that is still family owned and operated and you can tell this by the personalized, quality services they provided. I would highly recommend them to everyone.
