Our family had 2 services in 1 week after the passing of our parents. It was a very tough time in our lives and Mr.Gage and his wife made it as seamless and smooth as possible. They made this process as easy as it could be. I also appreciated that everything was included in the price and we weren't made to feel like we were being sold or pushed into decisions or up sales. I had called months ago to get a price and that was exactly what he presented. Our family was very happy with the services and Mr.Gage also had a family member to preach at the service for us.

I had a bad experience with American Funeral Service in Denison. They were unprofessional, outdated, and rude. American Funeral Service was ‘next on the list’ when the Grayson County Sheriff asked what funeral home I wanted to use at the time of my mothers unexpected death. We needed only cremation and paperwork support; however, American Funeral Service has managed to bungle most aspects of the services we hired them to complete. If anyone is taking the time to do research prior to selecting a funeral home, do not use American Funeral Service. The reason for my score and details of my experience are below: -1 point for unprofessional and rude behavior during collection of my mother’s body. One of the attendants made loud gagging noises, and made a big show of wiping his hands on the ground after handling the body bag containing my mother’s body. After they left I found they had tossed a used set of rubber gloves onto the driveway. The second attendant was polite and respectful. -1 point misspelling of names on death certificate despite my corrections to the spelling mistakes during the consultation. I now need to file amendments with the state to correct his mistakes. -1 point for rude phone behavior when I called once a week for updates on the availability of the death certificate. -1 point for blaming the County Judge, the US Postal service and the County Clerks office for delays in processing when the American Funeral Service outdated process was the cause of all delay in Death Certificate availability. In this case, the death certificate was ready with county clerk on 9/5, as of 9/20 American Funeral Service was still telling us that it was not yet available and pointing fingers at the post office. +1 point for preparing my mother’s ashes in a timely manner, even if her name was spelled incorrectly on the packaging. Their repeated assurances to me that ‘they have been doing it this way for 34 years” means they have not updated their process during the current CENTURY.

Today was one of the most difficult days I have ever had to endure in my life. I had to bury my Sweet Momma. She passed away April 15,2023 after a long battle with Dementia. You think you prepare yourself for this day but when it comes you are never ready. I want to Thank American Funeral Service, Malcolm and Donna Gage, Bob Bratcher and the Entire Staff for working so diligently to meet all of my requests. From the time she was picked up at the Nursing Home, Dressed and Casketed to doing her nails and hair. She looked beautiful even after the years of suffering she had been through. There was no high pressure sales. The Service which was done in Nocona Tx to the Memorial Folders we're just perfect. This was First Class Service. Thank you for doing such an excellent job. This just shows that everything is not just dollars and cents.
