I was told to use this funeral home by my mother. Oh, did I go wrong. Today I was supposed to receive my sons ashes but they won't be here. They haven't left Blacksburg yet. That's no fault of the funeral home. The fault that is theirs that they put the wrong address. I have called my local post office and let them know about the mistake and they will be calling me to go in person and get them. I tried to call the funeral home because USPS told me to contact the sender. Instead of reaching a person, I was sent to a call center. So, I sent a text saying I sent my address clearly. How could you mess up on sending his remains? Of course i am upset. Who would want their loved one lost in the mail? The guy called me back screaming at me. Yes. Screaming and refusing to listen. He's so determined he didn't make a mistake. The P.O is wrong, I am wrong but he is perfect. I tried to mention an error in the obituary was still there. Again, he told me I was wrong. As if I don't know how to spell my own sons name. I don't know these people nor do I want to. This was supposed to be something simple yet done correctly and I have been screamed out, had numerous mistakes made and made to feel worse at a time when I didn't think I could feel any worse. Maybe it's because I didn't want a service or all the extras. I got unexpected news about my sons passing and I don't want to celebrate anything or be around anyone. So, if you want just the basics and to have a nice obituary done correctly and your remains sent to you properly, this isn't the place for you. Please check Yelp for proof and look at their response on this. It's truly tragic they still haven't even corrected a name for a US soldier. This place is truly a shame for any American. Not just locals.

I don’t recommend this place. Even though you spend money you have to be in the in crowd to get decent service. After first misspelling my friend sons name in the obituary they then sent her sons remains to the wrong address instead of taking accountability they called her screaming at her..A mother who is already mourning the loss of her child. Instead of just apologizing and fixing the issue you make her feel worse. I’d never recommend your mortuary home to anyone.

My dear Daddy passed this year and there was no hesitation who we would entrust to facilitate my Father's funeral preparations and services. White Columns is more than just professional and respectful. They listen, truly listen, and then cared deeply for fulfilling our wishes for my Daddy. Mr. Cline, Christy, Joshua, and all the Gores are talented, genteel, and empathic. The staff at White Columns is not just staff, they are truly family. We love the Gores and are so thankful they were there to support us through the most difficult time in our lives when my Daddy passed.
