I can't express how much I appreciate WF Gormley & Sons for the compassion they showed my family and I during the incredibly difficult loss of my mother. Knowing you will be facing the loss of a loved one is an emotionally fraught time, and I was advised by my hospice team to find a mortuary service prior to my mothers death so that when the time came, I could focus on my loss rather than dealing with logistics. Sadly, before I could get everything squared away my mom passed. It was chaotic and emotional and I am grateful to Katie. From the moment she took my call, she provided me a safe space to grieve and prioritized my needs first, above making a sale for services. She talked me through what would be involved to accommodate my mom's wishes and was there to retrieve her body from my home. She was respectful of the extra time my dad needed before they took her away, and never rushed or pressured us to leave. She gave me a hug at the right moment, when no one else saw my need. Her intuition and kindness are representative of the high quality and emotional intelligence of the staff at Gormley. We held a viewing before my mother's cremation and they set up the viewing room perfectly. (Keep in mind, other mortuaries can do cremation but don't offer or have the space to allow for a viewing). It was simple, peaceful and exactly what my family wanted, especially in their gorgeous historic building. Afterwards, Katie personally returned my mother's ashes to my family when they were ready. No detail was left unattended to by Gormley and I highly recommend them for taking care of your loved one, or perhaps planning for yourself.

My brother died rather unexpectedly in Sacramento. He lived alone and had no children or spouse. Moreover he had no immediate family close by. I live about 2400 miles away, and had to deal his death via long distance. Obtaining a mortuary was one of my tasks, and I knew nothing about mortuaries in Sacramento. I was given a list of them by the Sacramento County Coroner's office. On a whim I chose Gormley and Sons, knowing virtually nothing about them. Robert Gormley worked with me and he made the process easy and painless. As it turns out they've been in the business for, I think, over 100 years. Robert informed me of all my options and since my brother was a veteran, Robert was able to have my brother buried at a National Veterans Cemetery with military honors. He took care of all the paperwork and guided me through the entire process. He returned all my calls and emails promptly. Robert met us at the funeral and guided us through the process of the funeral. My family and I are and will always be grateful for this. In addition my interactions with their staff have been very pleasant, and everyone has been respectful, calm, and kind. I can't say enough about Gormley and Sons.

My father and I had researched a number of funeral homes in the Sacramento area. W F Gormley & Sons was on our short list of preferred options for my mother who was dying in a nearby hospital. We visited their facility and spoke with Rick in person. He was very understanding and compassionate toward my father and I. He was also very direct about what they had to offer. I really appreciate talking with a "straight shooter". No sales pitch. No pressure. Just an honest person that cares about what he does. In the end, my mom moved into a hospice facility for end of life care. It was far enough away from Sacramento that we didn't end up using W F Gormley & Sons, but even with that change of plans, they were still very nice to us. If you are in need of funeral or cremation services, look no further.
