Van Orsdel Funeral Home did a great job helping my family plan for the funeral of my father. Crystal Van Orsdel-Merchant and Akeem Skinner were especially helpful. There’s a reason Van Orsdel has been in business for over 100 years as a small, family, third generation run business….They are honest, genuinely care, and make a stressful, devastating time seamless. Best put…Van Orsdel provides peace of mind. This is the third time I’ve needed their services, and I can’t thank Crystal Van Orsdel enough. To say that she went the extra mile to expedite the processes, is an understatement. I’m so grateful for her sincere compassion and professionalism. Every funeral home offers cremation services, and there’s bargain cremation services out there with just a basic storefront. What some don’t realize is there’s very few actual crematoriums in Miami, and those businesses without actual crematorium facilities, farm out the bodies to those other crematoriums. In other words, you don’t know WHERE your loved actually is, or who is doing the cremation. I called one of the bottom of the barrel cheap cremation businesses in Coral Gables this week. They would NOT provide a location of where my loved one would be cremated, nor would they provide a cell number to communicate when my loved one passed in hospice. Their exact words, “We don’t provide our personal cell phone” and “We don’t arrange in advance”. With Van Orsdel, I provided all information needed in advance, and was given Crystal’s cell to contact day or night, when the time came. When our loved one did pass in hospice this week, they were on their way immediately to get her. All I needed to do was send a simple text of “She just passed”. They didn’t even charge our credit card until she was at their facility in their care. Van Orsdel is one of the few funeral homes in Miami that owns and operates their own crematorium on site, and why I only trust them to handle my loved ones. It’s sad to even think about human carelessness, but I KNOW I’ll be getting the right ashes back. Crystal, you are a blessing to those in need. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
