DO NOT use this funeral home! We had nothing but issues from the beginning! My father in law died in December. We ordered jewelry and urns at the funeral home , months later we get the urns back and they were wrong! Then we got one piece of jewelry back which was wrong!but we said whatever and kept it. So two months goes by and I call about the other piece of jewelry and come to find out they took our money and it was never even ordered! So for the last month I’ve been trying to get a refund and going through so many people to get a refund … and just keep getting the run around! They took our money so fast but when it comes to returning it your on there time! We ended up getting new blank urns to have done elsewhere . But I am absolutely dunfounded at the service from this place… and will never ever use them again! I do not recommend! Because most likely everything will be wrong for you too! I’m not usually a person to leave a review but instead of being able to grieve… I’ve had to deal with every mistake this place has made!

I am completely mortified with how they handled my father's arrangements! My sister and I decided to go with this funeral home as our family has used them for 3 other services and it was my father's last wishes. From the beginning it was VERY unprofessional. 1. They posted the obituary before we had a chance to proof read and it had some errors. One being not listing his brother. 2. We also asked for a special picture to be added to his obituary page and it NEVER got done. 3. At the end of the visiting hours; while people were still observing my father the attendants came in and said it was time to close his casket. They never gave us time to say goodbye by ourselves. I have NEVER been to a funeral where it was so unprofessional in all my life. And they were not compassionate at all about or feels! 4. The minister never contacted us to talk about our father and what he was going to say at the funeral. The minister showed up after the visiting hours were over and talked with us for 5 minutes at the most. 5. THIS IS THE BIG ONE!!!! When we arrived at the cemetery the attendant informed us they forgot to get the vault. This is a HUGE deal and my father was not laid to rest the way he deserved. They just put his casket on the ground next to an empty hole. My father was in the service and to see him sitting on the ground is something I still can not get over. This was a hard day and Smart and Edwards turned it into a nightmare!!! How would they feel if their loved one were put to rest in this manner? Not to mention they left him out in the rain before my uncle demanded he be put back into the hearse! We had to wait 4 hours after the service for the vault company to show up.(I was not going to leave him). Disappointment is an understatement!! We did not get the closure we deserved and PAID for! I would NEVER recommend Smart and Edwards Funeral Home! Deanna

Having used this funeral home for three generations. I can’t express the disappointment our family experienced today with my brother services. On top of a calamity of errors including the obituary being published ahead of approval (yes it had errors) today was simply a disaster. Not only were the staff members dressed, unprofessionally, they were less than helpful, less than sympathetic, failed to communicate, and totally not prepared to lay my brother to rest. Although arrangements were made well in advance, we arrive at the gravesite today to find an open grave with no vault and no plans to have a vault. These arrangements were premade and prepaid for. After much confusion, we proceeded with the service placing my brother on the ground in the rain, awaiting for a vault to magically appear four hours later a vault arrived . This was not only an embarrassment to the family. It was a disrespect to my brother, and it echoes unprofessionalism. Not sure what is happened. It used to be one of the very best funeral homes in Central Maine today that was not the case! I can tell you run, Don’t walk to someone other Funeral Home than Dignity to take care of your loved ones When they need arises!
