I don't know where to begin to express my sincere appreciation to the Leslie family at SM&L. I cannot say enough good things about them. My family has always had nothing but an excellent experience with this funeral home as they cared for my grandparents and other relatives, along with many other friends through the years. In my own recent experience when my dear mother passed away, Peter, Maggie and Mary proved once again that they are utmost professionals, attentive to every detail and truly show compassion at such a sorrowful time. They are sensitive to the family's needs and know the best way to handle everything. The quality of their work, especially in preparation for viewing, is impeccable and it shows in every aspect of what they do. They were readily available to us at all hours, day or night, were overly accommodating and we were completely confident that we did not need to worry about a thing. They even added their own special touch to our graveside ceremony. I would not have entrusted my parents to be taken care of by anyone else. I feel like they have become part of our family. That's how very special they are and proves how much they genuinely care. I am also grateful and relieved to know that they will be able to care for my husband and myself and handle the arrangements when the time comes for us, even though we do not live in the Buffalo area. I will always recommend SM&L to anyone who asks. I can promise you that your loved one is in exceptional hands when you entrust them to SM&L. I recently came to Buffalo for the unfortunate event of attending my grandmother's funeral service and burial. This was a hard time for our family but this funeral home was incredibly kind and helpful! A couple people in our family were very particular about the way they wanted things done and how they wanted every detail to turn out. The funeral home was very patient and attentive to every ask. They never rushed us even though we could take a long time to get moving and weren't always on schedule. Maggie was even so sweet to go out of her way to surprise us with a personal tribute to my grandmother at the burial. This little action showed us that she took the time to listen to and learn about our family and that this is not just a business but a passion to her. This funeral home was so professional and thoughtful and I would highly recommend them to anyone who has to go through life's hard time of saying goodbye to a loved one!

Attended the wake last night for my neighbors teenage daughter. When I was leaving, I witnessed something I will not forget anytime soon. There were quite a few young adults outside. The crying became louder when we all saw a large black vehicle pull in front of a garage and proceeded to unload two bodies. It was within 30 feet of all of us. The kids were having a hard enough time dealing with their classmate passing, let alone seeing this right in front of them. I walked in side, to speak with someone in charge just to say what we all just say. The lady that was sitting at the door, said I should have told them to come inside. Isn’t that their job!! Then a woman came out and spoke to us in a really loud manner. She more or less said this is their job….she was so loud that it created more chaos. She was very defensive for no reason. She said what did you want us to do with the bodies? I said wait another half hour to pick them up when everyone is gone. I said why we we speak to the guy that brought in the bodies rather than her. She said he is working on the bodies!! Wow Where is the funeral parlors compassion. Kindness and respect for all of us?? Very sad, I would never recommend this place to anyone
