I used Saddle back in 2018, and they were wonderful. My husband passed away in November, and it was a disaster. After picking up the body from the autopsy, they said they would call me to confirm a private viewing, they never called (except for the one time they called to tell me they wrote down the SS# wrong and SS had kicked it back). I called them to find out if we could have the viewing (for 4 people) and at first they told me 3 days was not enough prep time, but when I asked why, then it was suddenly OK. I week later I called to ask when cremation would be finished, and they said it was not started because I had not paid yet. OK, but they could have asked for payment on my first visit, or my 2nd visit when I brought clothes and picked the urn for the ashes, or the 3rd visit for the viewing, when I specifically asked the receptionist why I hadn't been asked for any payment yet. The death certificates took so long I finally just ordered them myself from the county and got those first. When I finally went to get the urn (I had to call them to find out status, as again, no one called me), they had put his ashes in the wrong urn. My mother in law passed away on January 1, we had Saddleback pick her up. They promised they would call on the 2nd. It's the afternoon of the 3rd, still waiting........ (Update 3 weeks later) After the 5th day we went in, as we needed to get the death certificate going. They said they had called several times, looked at the paperwork, they had my phone number wrong. When they said the same person would be helping us, I said no, find someone else. We worked with Jim this time, and had a much better experience. The paperwork was done correctly, they called when the death certificate arrived, they communicated with the cemetery about the burial, offered to put a memorial on the website (first guy never did that) normal stuff you would expect. I updated my rating from 1 to 2 stars. My recommendation is that if the first meeting doesn't go well, i.e. you see the paperwork is having to be corrected several times as you are proving information, stop there and ask for someone else to assist you. They have lovely facilities and a long history in the community, I hate to see them decline, but as in almost every business, it's all about the employees.

Had a service for my grandmother and it was beautiful. Very clean, neat, and organized. I couldn’t have pictured a more beautiful celebration of life for a loved one. The staff was amazing, friendly, and incredibly helpful. The chapel was beautiful. Matt, Jim, and Melissa made sure everything was perfect and really helped take the stress out of the entire endeavor.

Saddleback mortuary in itself, was fine. The lady ( I’m sorry, I don’t remember her name) that actually brought my father to the cemetery was lovely. However, the Deacon that was recommended, left a lot to be desired. He not only mispronounced our last name but he also forgot my father’s name is Richard- and referred to him as Robert. He said my Dad had three daughters - he has 2 daughters and 1 son. He also was looking for “the widow”- my mother, who has been deceased for over 30 years. These were all things that Deacon Tony was told, by my sister, several days before the service. He also had texts and emails. He asked if we wanted any special prayers included, in the service. We gave him a prayer my Aunt had requested- yet on the day of the service, he couldn’t find it and I had to present it. Needless to say- it made a hard day, even harder.
