I got the recommendation for this funeral home from my father's nursing home. It was the top one on a list and it was the only one I had to call. I received a call back the very night my father passed and Anne helped with everything. Even things she didn't have to help with. I specifically chose Riverdale on Hudson because the facility seemed modern and inviting to me and they had easily accessible parking. Not to mention it didn't have the dreaded funeral home scent. They treated my family so kindly and prepared my father perfectly. I cannot recommend this establishment enough. Thank you for making a very difficult time for me go so smoothly. Tens across the board!

I recently attended a service at Riverdale on the Hudson for my dear friend Darlene, who passed away on October 10th from stage four cervical cancer. I want to share my experience, as it was far from what I expected during such a sensitive time. Upon arrival on October 26th, I was greeted by a short, stocky young woman at the door. Unfortunately, she did not introduce herself or offer a warm welcome, which is typically expected in such somber circumstances. This lack of empathy set a tone that continued throughout the service. The room where Darlene's ashes were displayed felt cold and lifeless. There was an absence of warmth or personal touches that would have made the space feel more inviting for those paying their respects. The seating arrangement was also peculiar, with the family positioned at the back while friends and colleagues sat at the front—a reversal of the usual practice that added to the discomfort. The viewing hours were scheduled from 12 PM to 5 PM, with a deacon speaking at 4 PM. However, the deacon appeared unprepared, failing to even mention Darlene’s name during his remarks, opting instead to speak about himself. He concluded his speech at 4:30 PM, leaving 30 minutes until the official end of the service. Regrettably, no friends or family members were invited to share their memories of Darlene. One of her friends had prepared to sing a song that had brought her comfort during her final days, but this attempt to honor her was abruptly interrupted. Darlene’s sister erupted in an outburst, displaying aggressive behavior and threatening physical harm to some of us. It was disheartening, as many of us were her chosen family, having been there for her through her illness. During this chaotic moment, the same funeral representative who had greeted us at the door insisted that we leave, declaring that the service was over, despite there still being time left. Strangely, the sister was allowed to remain, even after her aggressive actions. The unprofessionalism, bias, and insensitivity displayed by the staff at Riverdale on the Hudson are deeply concerning. It is clear that they lack the necessary training to support grieving families and friends. The establishment itself appeared dated and gloomy, contributing to a somber atmosphere that felt more like a burden than a place of remembrance. In summary, my experience at Riverdale on the Hudson was profoundly disappointing. Darlene did not receive the respectful and loving remembrance service she deserved. I cannot recommend this funeral home for anyone seeking compassionate service in their time of grief. Avoid this establishment; it is a total waste of time.

We want to thank Jeff, Anne and the entire staff at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home for navigating us through a very difficult time for our family. We truly appreciate not only their guidance but also their compassion. From the time we spoke to Anne on the phone and soon after walked in the front door and met Jeff we felt a feeling of relief. We knew right away that they would handle all of the arrangements on our behalf allowing us time to grieve and be with our family. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you and Angela thanks you as well. With sincere gratitude, Miguel and Christy Rodriguez
