If you want to know peace, say no to Peace! The red flags began within minutes of speaking to the owner. When my sister-friend (sister) passed, her uncle suggested I work with Peace Funeral Home because Peace had managed the remains of generations of her family. With this in mind, I thought working with Peace would be peaceful--WRONG! In our first conversation, the owner tells me how sorry he is and he understands the burial process is expensive. Then he asks me how much I can put down. He said: "any little amount will be fine." I told him I could put down $500. He then said: "$1,000." I said ok and gave him my credit card number. I live in New Mexico, so I had to complete some tasks and travel to Michigan. Literally, almost every day, I received a phone call from the owner asking me when I was coming. After several days of him asking when I was coming, I told him I wanted to complete as many of the tasks as I could before going to Michigan. I asked him how much it was going to cost. He said: there is NO AMOUNT TOO GREAT to spend on a loved one's home going. He assured me he was going to "do right by me"--but, he gave no price. Finally, after much back-and-forth, he said the basic package starts at $4,900--not including a casket. I asked him what the packages included: THAT'S WHEN THE SHOW BEGAN!!! Everything I asked about was NOT included in the package--there was an additional fee for a minister ($100), a soloist ($100), a cosmetologist ($350). This guy was making up prices so quickly, he couldn't keep up with himself! Honestly, in the same conversation the "base-price" was $4900, $5900, and $7,900! He finally agreed, to give me a breakdown of the costs: he texted me a copy of the contract my sister had entered into to bury her father in 2018. He then told me the prices were incorrect because they had risen over the years. Then, I again asked for a current itemized list. He said he didn't have one. People always purchased a package. I was really trying to work with this man. He had worked my sister's family and my sister apparently trusted him. Maybe, he was more upstanding with her. His nephew finally sent an itemized list of services and costs. Then, I made the final mistake. I asked if the minister and soloist were going to cost $100 each. He said: "Noooooo, OH Noooooo. They haven't cost $100 in years. They are $200 each." I asked him if her had informed Social Security (SS) of my sister's passing. He said: "No, you have to do that." One of the first things a funeral home is supposed to do is notify SS. The insanity continued until I wondered if I could change funeral homes because Peace had already embalmed her. I read Google reviews and saw at least one other person had moved their loved one from Peace to Swanson's. The best decision I made in terms of burying my sister was choosing Swanson's. There was NO peace knowing Peace!

Awful! From the beginning of the process til the bitter end. They made my father's passing extremely more difficult than it had to be. #1, this awful place is only concerned about the money. They are slow, incompetent, rude, pushy and late. (No pun intended.) Myself and my entire family are disappointed and very upset at how they handled my pops death. The air conditioning and refrigeration was not properly working. They neglected to tell us this. I only found out when they tried to charge us extra for a bigger casket because my pops body bloated more than usual because their refrigeration system wasn't working properly. Myself and my mom's actually saw the A/C company there and I put 2 and 2 together...sneaky sneaky! They kept adding and changing things. My mother got so upset. Me and my sister kept calling to see what exactly was going on. They were very rude to us over the phone and eventually, they told us point blank to stop bothering them. How rude and disrespectful! My pops is dead, laying in their #-%& up facility and they got the nerve to talk mess to us? This place dropped the ball at every turn. Do not go to this horrid place. They make dying more awful than it has to be!

My family celebrated lives of several family members at Peace Funeral Home. My 97-year-old grandmother Queen specifically informed us to have her homecoming at Peace proceeding of her twin sister. Peace's entire team were patient, understanding, well organized, and provided the ultimate guidance, support, and care. My mom and I was pleased with her homecoming and received many compliments from family and friends. I highly recommend Peace Funeral Home for their support, service, and being a local business in the City of Detroit.
