My 80 yr old mother was coming to AZ for a visit and wanted to pay her respects at some cemeteries in the Phoenix area. I decided to try and find the graves beforehand to save some time so she wouldn't be wandering around very long in hot weather. I previously went to two other cemeteries without a hitch. Was able to ask about the graves I was looking for, was given an exact location and treated with respect. My last stop was to the office of Paradise Gardens with the names of two people I was looking for. The woman at the desk was incredibly rude right off the bat. She demanded to know if I was a relative. I don't get it. Friends/coworkers/neighbors aren't allowed to visit people at this cemetery??? One of the people I was looking for was my cousin so I said yes. She wanted to know the date of death. I only had the year on me. Not the month or day. This also made her angry and she then demanded to know why I wasn't at the funeral!! Like that's any of her business!! Furthermore, my cousin died in 1999. I'm not going to remember the exact date even if we had gone to the funeral! My cousin's name is difficult to spell so I wrote the names on the back of a map I had gotten from the previous cemetery I had been to. The woman proceeded to open up the folded piece of paper, turn it over and read it! She then yelled at me that it was from a different cemetery. I couldn't believe how nosy and unprofessional she was. But I needed the information so I had to remain calm and polite and put up with her nonsense. Then I learned that they apparently do not have a computer system. Everything is kept in huge paper binders with names scribbled in squares. She proceeds to tell me that she can't find my cousin's file and that someone must be using it. Again, my cousin died in the 90s. Why would someone be using the file?? The other person I was looking for she was able to find a bit easier, but she asked me a question (don't remember what) and she didn't like my answer. She then yelled: I THOUGHT YOU WERE A RELATIVE! Ugh what a nightmare. This was someone my mother knew. Not me. I do not understand why only relatives are allowed to ask where a grave is located. Why is it a secret??? The woman was able to find the location and it happened to be right outside the office. It was over 100 degrees that day and I had driven up from Tucson. My transmission starts to act up when the engine is hot so I decided to wander around looking for the grave while letting the engine cool down. It's not like they were closing the gates and I had to get out of there right away. My main goal was to stay in the meager shade of the trees. (The instructions the woman gave me didn't make much sense anyway). Apparently the angry woman was watching me and didn't like that I wasn't going straight to the grave so she sent some poor guy in a suit to come fetch me with a golf cart! I have no idea why I was being treated like a homeless person trespassing. I returned the following week with more information on my cousin and thankfully didn't have to deal with that horrible, incompetent woman. The man with the golf cart assisted me in finding my cousin and then left me alone. No one hassled us when I brought my mother out there later to pay her respects. Honestly I would think twice before having your loved ones interred at Paradise Gardens. I wouldn't want anyone to have to go through the ordeal I did just to get the location of the grave.

We purchased a niche here for our Father after looking at several cemeteries. Chris Carena assisted from beginning and through the inurnment. She was very helpful and professional throughout the process (even giving me some of my Father’s ashes). We have since bought three more niches as the grounds are beautiful and well kept. Chris, you helped us all get through a hard time. ⭐️
