My brother passed away unexpectedly on New Years Eve 2022 and we decided to go with Newcomer for his funeral. Our funeral director was Joe and at first everything seemed to be very professional and like the staff genuinely cared but that slowly took a turn. After we got done planning the service we were able to “view” my brother for the first time. Not only did we not get a few moments with him by ourselves, but we were rushed out within 5 minutes. We also were not given my brothers belongings that he was wearing the night he passed away, as the staff discarded all of his things (besides his wallet) without our permission. We were also advised by Joe during the planning process that we should buy the headstone from them because it would be “much cheaper” than purchasing it from the cemetery. Come to find out that was completely backwards and Newcomer charged substantially more than the cemetery and was just worried about making more of a profit off of a grieving family. The day of his showing when we got to the funeral home we noticed his flower spread on his casket was welted, which was not cheap so we were very disappointed by that. The next day comes for the service and once the funeral came to an end we were not given the chance for one last moment with my brother with just immediate family only. Joe did not ensure that everyone that attended the funeral was dismissed to their cars so that we could have our last moments to say goodbye and instead we were rushed, Joe had closed the casket with us standing right there and we were rushed to leave to get to the cemetery. Overall, my family and I were VERY dissatisfied with our experience at Newcomer as this was already the hardest time in my family’s lives and we weren’t given a proper final goodbye to my brother. I would suggest researching other options for your loved one’s funeral before settling on Newcomer. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars and not 1 is because they did do a good job with the presentation of my brother and he looked just like himself which I’m very thankful for.

After a loved one dies, everything is very overwhelming. Rita really explained all the information very well and made it easy to make decisions. Nothing was pushed on us! The planning process was seamless and stress free...she is the best. I was dreading this day but she made us very comfortable and we left there feeling like we made the best choices for our mom. I highly recommend their services, very professional.

Newcomer has been our family’s go to funeral home since 1990. They have always been very caring and compassionate working with us in the time of our loss. Shelby most recently worked with us and was very patient, comparing and empathetic to our loss. We appreciate her and staffs assistance in everything they could do for us. We recommend them to all our family and friends.
