What I most appreciated about the services of Maryland Cremation was their simplicity, only giving to those of us in grief the respect of addressing what we need, without any commercial pressure. There is also kindness in the staff, and real accommodation to the family. They truly live up to their mission statement, and it shows in the people they hire to provide these essential services.

I had a nightmarish experience with Maryland cremation services. We payed for 1/2 hour visit to view my son’s body, when we arrived we opted to pay for additional 1/2 hour. We waited about twenty minutes or so then they allowed us to see my son’s body. The funeral director interrupted the viewing 15 minutes later and said I had to come in his office to start signing papers. I asked him why was he interrupting my visitation that I paid for right now. His answer was there is never a good time to have to do this?? I answered, yes there is a more appropriate time like before or after viewing my son’s body! The twenty minutes we waited before or after! He became extremely rude to me and my family members. This man actually told me I needed to sign the paperwork because he needed to cremate my son’s body that day.The wording he used was extremely vulgar and traumatic!! He said I failed to fill out all the appropriate paperwork. It was insane. I filled out every piece of paperwork the staff ever asked me to fill out and paid for everything in advance. When it came time for me to collect his remains for his memorial service, that was scheduled 10 days later, his ashes were not ready. Turns out he wasn’t cremated yet. When his ashes were ready they refused to hand them over without an appointment knowing his ashes would not present for his memorial service. I drove 6 hours round trip to be turned away. I was told I had to make an appointment the following afternoon. I had no choice to get a hotel room and show up there again the next day. The appointment consisted of a woman handing me a box and signing a piece of paper. The “appointment” took less than 5 minutes. On a side note, the office is not attended by staff during normal business hours. If you call the office someone often answers in car, in a store or their home. You can hear it’s not a professional office environment. They obviously have the office calls forwarded to someone’s personal cell phone. The office is in the back of industrial complex. The environment is for the lack of a better word “ ghetto” in every way. I would warn anyone to not have their loved one cremated here. I have serious concerns that the ashes I received are even my sons.

I would recommend Maryland Cremation Services to anyone who needs their services. Everyone I spoke with on the telephone was considerate and helpful. I am not familiar with the Millersville area, and the person I spoke with gave perfect directions and a description of where the Maryland Cremation Services was located. When I arrived to pick up the ashes and death certificates, T2 was very pleasant and organized. She explained the paperwork I had to sign and the importance of keeping the certificate of cremation for the burial. She even carried out the urn and placed it into my car for me. Thank you, T2.
