Charged $4400 for a simple cremation that averages under $2500 in Virginia. They provided death certificates and the ashes. Staff got annoyed when this was brought up and tried to claim how they offered all these behind the scenes services to try to justify their price gouging. When we mentioned how we had $4000 in cash, they snapped that up and rewrote their agreement. We had no service, no viewing, no transport of remains.

The Hopewell branch handled my loved one's funeral very well, respecting our wishes and helping us with requests. All the staff were polite, kind and respectful. I would highly recommend them.

Building and property very well kept, staff is fantastic and extremely compassionate. They did my Mom's service in 2009, and that's precisely why we went with them for my Dad's this year. Felt very comfortable talking to them and it was as easy a process as it could be considering the nature. Communication was great and still not overbearing. Cost consideration was taken and it was broken down line by line with an itemized statement, any discussion about cost was done with respect and felt very comfortable with that discussion. We were able to place both my Mom and Dads cremated reamins in the same vessel. When we finally received my Dad's and they were placed together, it was done with the utmost respect and decency that it felt like a service of it's own. I am confident in saying the people are doing this for the right reason, respect for the deceased and caring for the loved ones who will go through this process. Unfortunately funeral services are something everyone will need at some point and I have zero regrets going with J.T. Morriss & Son!
