I know it’s an awkward thing to review a funeral home but you’re in such a vulnerable state when someone dies, hopefully this helps and I’m sorry for your loss. Byron West, helped our family, I totally recommend him. At a terrible and emotional time he was so pleasant and empathetic, he helped us tremendously. My brother passed away Thanksgiving weekend. There was zero preparation for his passing. When you have to pool resources together to cover expenses, cost and care become key topics. Our family did go to three funeral homes to get pricing for burial and funeral services. Larkin in Sandy: $18,000-$20,000 Jenkins-Soffe in South Jordan: $10,000-$13,000. Serenity in Bluffdale was $8,000- $10,000. There’s seriously tons of costs for a funeral. Transfer of the deceased to the mortuary, services, burial, programs, obituary……. Jenkins-Soffe is a beautiful and peaceful funeral home. Light atmosphere, clean, smells pleasant. They don’t nickel and dime you for every little thing. Because it was Thanksgiving weekend when my brother passed away multiple family members were out of town. Byron let our family set up sessions as people came back to town to see my brother’s body and have time to say goodbye. They live stream the funeral which is so helpful for out of town friends and family and people who just want the closure of a service but don’t want to be around all the people. If you’re in the unfortunate place to have to plan a funeral, Jenkins-Soffe is highly recommended.

Our brother passed in August 14/23 overseas and was returned to Utah and buried a week later. We have been looking for his original death certificate since after the funeral and turned our house inside out looking for this form. We called the insurance and was told all documents were sent to the Funeral home. We called the funeral home and we were told all was sent after the burial. We called again today 4/18/24 and was told the same thing but was interrupted by another of their own office employees who said: we have it, we forgot to included in the envelope when all the documents were returned last year. They never said an apology for this mishandled and misinformation of this very important document. This is very disturbing and unacceptable. Very careless on the funeral home workers part.

We had an incredible experience (as much as you can considering the nature of why). Jordan was our funeral director and he was helpful, compassionate, and patient. We were treated so amazing from our very first meeting, to the after care specialist! They are so personal, and think of every little detail to make burying a loved one so special. We could not have been in better hands while pulling together a service for our mother. Thanks for making this painful time much easier on us. We appreciate the compassion you put into your services!
