I was wanting to get a feel for the funeral homes in my location to get an idea of where to potentially have a loved one’s needs cared for. Herr is a staple of the area so obviously that was my first choice. I know I’ll definitely be utilizing their services in the future as the entire staff was very forth coming with information and had no hesitation in answering my questions. They were caring and very welcoming of me into their business. It felt like a genuinely good environment to trust in the care of a loved one.

I just lost my second son two weeks ago!!! I wanted to see him was told I needed to make appointment to veiw him as a mother an appointment!!! We were already in a new nightmare!! So I had my son move to Irwin Chapel in Granite City was treated with respect and understanding of my need to be with my son!!! On top of that was charged $799.00 for picking up my son after his truck accident. Where other funeral home even viewed this very high!! I will never recommend Herr Funeral!! My family has had many services there since 1994. Good luck to anyone who uses them!! Very upset mother Kim McGinness

It is never easy when a loved one passes away, but I had extenuating circumstances with the passing of my mother. She had enlisted me the task of moving my brother’s remains to a National Cemetery that was going to be her final resting place. My brother having died from an accident while in the Air Force had been buried where my mom and stepfather had planned to be buried. Later, my stepfather whom was a WWII veteran decided he wanted to be buried at the National Cemetery, so my mom wanted her son’s remains moved to where she would be. Where was I supposed to even begin? In steps Gina! Gina worked her tail off contacting all the necessary people to make this, in my opinion, daunting task more manageable. She made multiple calls to the National Cemetery, the existing cemetery, the county, and myself to get the necessary information and paperwork completed as quickly as possible to get my brother’s remains placed as close to my mom and stepfather’s remains as possible. Gina kept in constant contact keeping me informed throughout the whole process of moving of my brother since I reside over 1,000 miles away. I will always be grateful to Gina for her compassion and professionalism with both starting the final arrangements for my mother and the complete arrangements for my brother.
