The staff at Green Street Mortuary were very friendly, efficient and knowledgeable during the lost of my loved ones. Also, they treated me as a family member and they showed great compassion for me. Lena Wong, the Pre-Planning Advisor lead me through the step-by-step process as to what needed to be done after the lost and finally, to the final resting place of the loved one with dignity and respect.
Mr. Horse and his staff took good care of us. Though my brother lived in California, it was his wish to rest with our family in Pennsylvania, and I was making arrangements from Maryland. Mr. Horse guided me through all the steps, and was incredibly kind. This was a tough loss and he made it easier. I am very grateful.
One of the worst experiences for me and my family. The rude lady funeral coordinator asked us if we would like to speak during the viewing and then just rushed us through the whole thing. She asked one of the uncles if he would like to speak before the service in Chinese and he said yes. As soon as we finished the first speech she asked more people to come up. One more family member came up and said her piece then the director came up and just showed the map and moved us before our uncle could speak to everyone. Sure, they followed the Buddhist traditions but also rushed us through incense, bowing, and paying our respects. During a very emotional time, this felt inappropriate. Decent private security escorted us to Hoy Sun Memorial Cemetery. The coordinator also left super early during the actual burial and rushed us through that too. We finished the whole thing extremely earlier than expected and threw off the schedule. As a funeral director, I expect that you can communicate clearly on what is happening, if we are off schedule, and what to do in the meantime/what is currently going on. Throughout the whole experience, the lady even got my dad's name wrong every single time when calling him to pay respects to Grandad. It felt tonedeaf and disrespectful. I would not recommend them and felt like their motto of "Dignity" was a sham.
Having to pick a mortuary from 3,000 miles away because you can't travel do to Covid-19 was a little unsettling. Green Street Mortuary was recommended to me from one of my uncle's friends. I couldn't have done anymore if I was there. Dane was absolutely amazing. He helped me through the whole process and I was always informed on what was happening. I never felt uneasy or worried. I knew my uncle was in great hands immediately. I would like to say thank you again Dane! Your perfect for the job! Annamarie
When your love one/family member passed away suddenly, it's natural that you want to do what you can to honor that person and give that person a nice service. Green Street Mortuary has helped us tremendously with that. Losing someone is tough, grieving is tough, finding a good mortuary is also tough.. I have visited and talked to many mortuaries prior and either they were too expensive or has unorganized staff or they seemed like people who might be more interested in sales than believing in the honorable work that they do... I was in such much stress until I found the Green Street. Mr.Jefferson Lee is amazing; not only he is highly experienced, he has helped me planned out the service, walk me through each and every steps, patient with me and made himself available for all my questions and concerns... his staff also very wonderful, they are professional, friendly and respectful. I was very grateful for what they have done for our family. I hope you will consider them in time of need, they are really amazing.

Since 1902, Sinai Memorial Chapel has helped families in the greater San Francisco Bay Area honor the death and memory of their loved ones. We help people fulfill their personal wishes at their time of loss and can guide them in the practices of Jewish tradition. We will be by your side to help you make funeral arrangements and mourn your loss—respecting the guiding principles of k’vod hamet (respect for the dead) and nichum aveilim (consoling the mourners). Sinai is a resource for individuals who want to make advance plans—ensuring their wishes are fulfilled and providing peace of mind for their family. And for families who are mourning, we provide grief and bereavement counseling to help them through this difficult time. Sinai Memorial Chapel is the only Jewish funeral home in Northern California. It provides its services regardless of a family’s financial means and serves as an essential community and philanthropic resource in the Bay Area.
