Totally lacking in bedside manner. 3 days ago, I attended a wake at this facility. Like most, it was very emotional. I had an obvious river of tears streaming down my face when I headed towards exit. While the owner/proprietor held the door, he addressed me saying "Have a nice night now, ok?" REALLY?? How about "thank you for coming" or "would you like to sit for a few minutes before driving?". Have a nice night.... yeah right. I shudder to think about what he says to the bereaved if that phrase is considered appropriate for sobbing guests.

We have used Gately Funeral Home for numerous family members. John and his staff have always been amazing to us, compassionate, caring, and professional every time! Thank you to John Gately and his team for everything.

I did not use John for our funeral home but he apparently worked today at Puritan Lawn. He was clearly upset and told people that it was his day off and he was missing a day on his boat. He was speaking to the people in line for my fathers memorial service. As I approached him he said "It's not my funeral" in which I turned and responded "Well it is my father's". I found his lack of compassion disgusting and disturbing. I don't know why he was involved with my dads service, as I said, he wasn't from our funeral home. He needs to find another profession because I don't care that he missed a day out on his boat. My dad will never go back out on the boat.
