When we lost my brother this summer, we contacted FairHaven Funeral Home to make arrangements. Everyone we met and talked to was extremely caring and helpful. We told them exactly what we wanted and what we did not want. They listened, and made some suggestions that we never would have thought of ourselves. Death is not an easy thing to deal with. It’s awkward. It makes for drama. And there’s a lot of things that make it complicated. Worse if you’re trying to do things from out of state. Thankfully, Jarod and his team at FairHaven do their best to make things simple. Everything is explained. You’ll often hear there is a cost, and that’s just the nature of things. Some things can be handled by email. Since I was out of state handling everything after my brother’s passing, e-doc was a simple process that was available and easy. I could ask the same questions multiple time, and they were ever so patient. They scheduled the active duty Air Force for my brother’s service and provided the flag. I even got a text several days after the service, checking to see if there was anything else that could be offered as far as grief services. When I did visit the facility a few days before the service, it was well-lit and clean with plenty of parking. The few staff we came across were accommodating and friendly. Friendly seems like a weird word to use when dealing in death. Pleasant is probably more appropriate and less weird. I would recommend and use FairHaven again should the need arise. Hopefully, not any time soon.
