Over all great place, good people and they go out of there way to help out The coroner's office there though on the other hand deserve 1 star for not being truthful and lie on death certificates

A few months back, my great grandfather passed away. I am currently in the funeral industry and I am about to become a licensed funeral director. I have a few years of experience working at a funeral home, so naturally, when my grandfather passed away, I wanted to take care of him. After discussing with my family, they chose to still use Crandall for his funeral service, but they allowed me to do the embalming. I donated my time to pick up my grandpa and perform the embalming. My boss said to charge Crandall the costs of the embalming. Regardless, Crandall Funeral Home charged my family their full cost of the embalming, which they did not perform, which was significantly more than what we had charged him, and did not take into account my donated time. While doing the embalming, I spent hours making my grandpa look like himself. I took pictures because my mom wanted to see him when I had finished. She and I both agreed that he looked wonderful and like himself. When we showed up for the viewing, he no longer looked like himself and his cosmetics were lazily done and splotchy. My family decided not to mention it to the funeral director, as they did not want to hurt his feelings, and there would not be enough time to fix it. I felt like I had to take credit for my grandfather looking as bad as he did, because my whole family knew that I was the one who had done the embalming. They had gone back and redone everything that I had worked so hard to do. They covered up some prominent scars that we all knew him by. My mom and I both agreed that he no longer looked as well as he did when I had finished the embalming. During the viewing, the funeral director proceeded to lecture me, in front of my entire family, about what he thought I had done wrong. He talked about the scar that I chosen not to cover up (because he didn't look like himself without it), and much more. All things I had intentionally done to make my grandpa look like himself. He acted as though I had been lazy about the embalming. He is my grandpa, if I were to be lazy about any embalming, it sure as hell is not going to be my grandpa. He lectured me for about half of the duration of the already short viewing, while I was trying to grieve my grandpa's passing. I didn't want to talk about embalming or cosmetics, especially the difficult task of embalming my grandpa, nor did I want to be told that I did it wrong. Especially during the short time I had left to say goodbye. I felt as though Crandall Funeral Home was extremely unprofessional in caring for my grandpa, they overcharged my family, and they made it more difficult for me to grieve my grandpa's passing. It is because of funeral directors like that, that I decided to get into the business. The only good thing I have to say about my experience with Crandall is that Robert was extremely kind and sincere when he showed up to pick up my grandpa from the funeral home I work at. He was not the funeral director that I had problems with.

The staff at Crandall Funeral Home have treated me with kindness and respect during this difficult process. Everyone including Mr. Crandall has been prompt and answered all questions and inquiries with efficiency. Chevy and Rhonda drove through the night to get to our home when my husband passed. They treated him with the utmost dignity and respect and even let his beloved dog Simone give his goodbyes. I am truly grateful and thankful for these wonderful people and their service.
