They do not even deserve a minus rating and definitely not the one star they are getting but you have no choice but to give it to them if you want to post a review. The person who owns and runs Cedar Hill should not be in any kind of business especially a mortuary. Their website indicates they are open and available 24 hours a day and yet no matter what time you call they do not answer and no response to the messages. After several attempts I gave up and found another mortuary who had a very good price, responded to my messages and emails in a timely matter, compassionate and were helpful during the whole time. I wish I checked Cedar Hills’s reviews before I contacted them the first time and saved myself the aggravation and unnecessary stress. After reading the negative reviews, which are 100% correct, and the horrible experience I had I am actually very relieved that they did not answer and did not handle the arrangements. The idea that my loved one could have ended in their care gives me nightmares. Can you imagine not being able to get hold of the mortuary that have someone you love and just lost? I should thank them for being the unprofessional people they are and did not answer the phone. I dodged a bullet. Losing someone is the hardest thing you can go through. You want to honor your loved one, but Cedar Hill does not let you do that and add to your stress. They need to find another business to do and let the mortuary business to the professionals and caring people.

PLEASE AVOID CEDAR HILL MORTUARY!!! It is February 29th 2024 as of this writing. My mother died on October 10th of last year and we still have not received our mother's death certificate. I keep calling on a daily basis mostly to busy signals. On the rare occasion that I speak to a person there, I am promised that someone will call me back or that it will be mailed "next week". This has now gone beyond incompetence and is now more appropriately categorized as bald faced lies straight from their mouths. Nobody calls me back. Nobody returns my emails. Nobody is of any real help. Yes, they seem nice on the phone but the mismatch between their words and their deliberate inactions are the truth. Our family is unable to handle our mother's most important affairs without it and is now the cause of undo stress and monetary loss. I blame Cedar Hill Mortuary. Legal action is the only step from here.

They received body 10/4, ashes not mailed till 10/31 and received at my post office 11/2. Still do not know actual date of creamation, though from my conversations with them guessing between 10/25 to 10/28. Emails go unanswered. Was able to call them, but could not get timely info, still do not know actual date of creamation. After a few weeks, one gal told me it had not yet occurred, then got call same day that it had occurred. Several assurances of mailing date of ashes were broken. Death certs found out take 2 to 3 months when ordered through them, which I am still waiting for. Never received invoice after payment, but I wrote down the info during transaction. They do not do obituaries. Creamation is contracted out. Apparently owner has to mail ashes and he wasnt at office that often and only mails them by 3p on days he is there. Promises for texting or emailing or calling me with info didn't happen, constantly had to follow-up and call back as they do not respond to emails. I tried to arrange a prepay in April when the price was $650, David said to wait till the time. In October it had gone up to $925. Then there was 5 death certs for $120, 3 lockets w ashes at $75, shipping of each locket $45, shipping of ashes $145 (When I got my locket yesterday via certified mail, the postage was $17.25) In summary, they get the job done with what I think may be reasonable fees compared to other places, but they are not responsive in a timely manner. As I need death certs sooner, I also ordered online from state via live notary last week which should be here this week. For quicker results, one may wish to choose a local, smaller mortuary that performs creamation on-site for quicker services and response time. Cedar Hill seems to be too busy to perform in a timely manner and with a personal touch. Update as of 11/22/2023. ..was told death certs received and mailed certified last Friday, today is Thursday and nothing in today's mail......still on hold with them for over 15 minutes and no one has got back on phone. Ah just told me that owner will have tracking number in 40 minutes and they will text me info today.......we shall see. Suggest you do not order your certs from this mortuary. They must be far too busy to to handle things in a timely manner and do not follow through on promises to get back to you. This is my third call to them to follow up to get this tracking info promised by Noel last Friday. Update as of 11/27/23: The 5 death certs Noel said she mailed certified on 11/17/23 have not been received yet. She finally sent me a copy of receipt, but it was for the mailing of ashes and lockets she sent to me and siblings on 11/2/2023. She has yet to sent me copy of receipt and tracking number for the death certs she said she mailed 11/17/2023. I have yet to receive itemized invoice for all items ordered in Mid October 2023. Now that holiday is over, I called to ask for tracking number again and when I can expect delivery. She again told me she was with a family and would call me back today. We shall see.....I'll try again in couple hours if she or Zoey has not returned my call with the information I have been requesting. Update as of 11/28/2023: Called three times printer to noon, first two calls just rang and rang and finally got recording that said to enter remote access code. On third try, Noel decided to answer. I verbally told her that the receipt she sent me was not the correct on for death certs. She said she can't give me info as only David does the mailing and he was in a service. Told her I'd like to have the info from david today. Followed up with email to the conversation summarizing our talk and that since items mailed supposedly over 10 days ago and I have not received, wanted to know if they would be reordering and sending or giving me a refund for the 5 certified death certificates. To let me know which they would be doing, and confirmed my email and phone number should they choose to refund me through Zelle. Also let them know filed claim with Cemetery Funeral Board.
