They were professional but comforting. They were not pushy. They listened to what we wanted and made it happen. Katie and Elizabeth were great. They helped us with all our requests. They went out of their way to make sure everything we asked was answered and everything we wanted was able to be done. We are grateful for all the compassion and support they gave us in our time of sorrow

My family and I recently used Carson Speaks Funeral Home for the service of our beloved mom and they exceeded our expectations. She looked beautiful and they listened to our wishes for her. Their commitment to honoring our mom's memory was evident in every detail. Their caring staff created a warm supportive environment. We appreciated the additional support at the cemetery as well. I’ve waited a few months to process and share my most recent experience with Speaks. In short, I can no longer recommend them for funeral services of any sort. I will preface with my two previous experiences were with speaks on 39th, and everything really went smoothly when we planned my grandfathers and father in laws services and funerals. I do not know if this location is owned by the same people, but our experience cremating my mother in law was very different here. It is absolutely wild what their prices are for cremation. The man assisting us initially quoted us FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS. For a simple cremation. No services, nothing extra at all. Literally to post her obituary on their website and to cremate and return her ashes to us (and we chose the cheapest urn available, as well). Ultimately, my MIL was unprepared and we could not swing $4k ourselves, so I had to NEGOTIATE her cremation fee down. And do you know what, he immediately dropped it 50%. He also stated “I figured cost may be an issue when you said she didn’t have much and only requested two death certificates. Usually if a will or estate is involved, a family requests a lot of death certificates.” I was so taken aback by all of this. Did you just size us up before quoting us? Would you have charged even more if someone had an estate and needed many death certificates?? I’m sorry, but am I buying a car, or cremating a family member? Honestly, I’m still disgusted by it and she passed in April. Hindsight, it would have been more cost effective to pay Speaks $600 to transfer her down the road to Royers funeral home and paid them their simple cremation fee of $950. Please consider ‘shopping’ around before handling your families affairs. Especially if their wishes were to be cremated. Speaks was the most expensive place, after researching. Unfortunately, when someone passes unexpectedly you don’t have the time, or mental capacity, to worry about whether a funeral home will take advantage of you financially.
