I would recommend anyone to Atkins. Ed and Stacy where very helpful in planning my moms service. When we arrived we were greeted at the door. They made us feel very welcomed. When my mom arrived Stacy took the time to make my mom look presentable for us girls to view her. They didn’t rush us with any thing. They were great with all the little changes in obit and cards.

Thank you Atkins-Northland for providing such caring and comforting help in the funeral arrangements for my mother. From helping with all the details to fully listening to dad’s wishes, the staff helped ensure mom had a beautiful and meaningful funeral. Atkins-Northland was truly a blessing for our family.

You work in a very fragile business. You are dealing with highly emotional people in a time of great sadness, so I do not understand how so many things went so wrong. Let me start by the day my aunt and I meet with one of the funeral directors after my father passed away. He meets with us and was sipping his energy drink from the can at the table as we were making plans. I know we all have our things, but to be more professionally, poor it in a coffee cup. We got things set and I was unable to return for his ashes until a week and a half later. The director was out that day, and I meet with an office lady. She knew I was coming and directed me and my 14-year-old daughter to the meeting/sales room. She went to get the ashes and came back and asked if I had not picked out an urn. I was shocked and informed her yes and pointed to the one we had chosen. She left the room, and unfortunately your walls are very thin, as I heard drawers opening and closing while she was looking for an extra urn. She had to come back and take the display urn off the floor and told me it was going to be a bit. When she came back, she said that his ashes did not all fit, and since we chose a wooden urn the backing slides and was warped a bit, so it was not closing properly. She offered to glue the back on for me, which I promptly agreed to. As we were waiting, she came back to ask if we needed anything and I inform her that he was a veteran and we were to receive a flag, or that is what the director had told me. She said maybe I need to get the order out, and I looked at her very blankly and agreed. Then I heard more doors opening, and now chatter. Apparently, you do not have the flags pre-folded as she said she needed a manager to help her with this task, and it was poorly folded. Then she brought the urn back and said, all we have was superglue so it will have to sit a certain way until it dries. The last thing to my order was thank you cards, which I got approximately 3 weeks later, and at that time I told this to another office lady. Her response was mind blowing, as she said I was gone that week your father passed away so that is why things were missed. She proceeded to tell me the other lady needs to be spoken to about the way she interacts with people. It is unprofessional to give away any company drama as an excuse for a horrible experience. There is value in cross training and unfortunately this proves it. You have a business in a very small community, and I have a very large family which will not be using your services. Statistically for every bad experience a person tells at least 10 people, and they tell 10. I have told this story to many more than that. I am very thankful this happened to me vs a grieving parent that would have lost it on you, or a grandparent that would say it is ok. This has not been a good experience. Thank you for reading this post.
