One evening in October, I called Jeff Petersen, of Overton’s Funeral home, to inform him that my dear husband, of 56 years had just passed. We were in Rochester, Mn. and Jeff was the first person, I had thought to call. He was very kind and helpful and explained what I needed to do to get my husband, Mahlon, back home, to Indianola. Even though we were far from home, talking with Jeff made me feel not so all alone. The morning of my husband’s visitation, I awoke ill and tested positive with Covid. That evening,at the visitation, the Petersen’s were there with our four children, to help them through a most difficult time, when I wasn’t able to attend. Again, the next day, at Mahlon’s service and lunch in, the Petersen’s saw to it that our family was well taken care of and gave them all the support and guidance they needed. Even after Mahlon’s service, our family has not been forgotten. On December 3, 2023, our family attended a remembrance service, for all the families, who’s loved ones had passed in 2023. It was inspirational and comforting, to our family. We were, also, given a crystal keepsake ornament. Our family was truly appreciative to the Petersen’s and their employees at Overton Funeral home, for their caring and thoughtfulness, much like being a member of their family.
