Our father died suddenly and his body was taken to Helsley Johnson. From the first, they were professional and helpful. The staff (we mainly worked with Jeremy) answered all of our questions and assisted with decision-making but were not pushy with sales. Their prices are very reasonable. They did beautiful work preparing our Dad. We could not have asked for a better experience.
H.J is the place to do business. They may have rejected my original artistic view of pyrotechnic opportunity but were sure to get the job done. 5 Star Frog Splash win.
Would only consider using them again if the owner could oversee the service. The employee we had just doesn’t have the professionalism or compassion that is absolutely essential for this line of work. The list of issues we had dealing w the other gentleman is extensive. The final straw is that our family has been trying to get the status of the death certificates we paid for at the time of the service a month ago. Not even so much as a return call or email.
I’m not sure if the others just had a bad experience, but I couldn’t have had a better experience than I have with Helsley Johnson Funeral home. A number of years ago they provided services for my grandmother (who had prearranged and paid for everything down to her obituary). However, just recently my father passed away in Morgantown. I literally picked up the phone and within hours they were on the road to bring him home to us. They never asked for a dollar or contract before picking him up, he said don’t worry about a thing I will take it from here. He guided me through the entire process from picking out a casket and a vault that was financially in my budget, but in a tactful, sensitive manner so that I didn’t feel that by purchasing a basic vault/casket that I was not laying my father to rest properly. I truly cannot thank Mr. Sensel enough for the honesty, integrity and sensitivity he has shown my family through this difficult time. At 36, I haven’t had any experience planning a funeral especially an unexpected and unplanned one, he could’ve sold me a casket at double the price, but he didn’t take advantage of a grieving daughter and for that they deserve 10 stars out of 5.
I wouldn't even give this place 1star but they were polite during the service. This is the last day of August and friend passed away in January. They have yet to produce a headstone! The family had to google places to that it could have been ordered from. The office stated they had no phone # for company. Very unprofessional!! Bad enough you lose a loved one but then you can't even get the headstone thats been paid for since January. Unreal!!!
