My family has used Curnow in the past with the loss of my grandfather and though the company had transferred ownership to a new owner, I can't say that I'm disappointed. The professionalism was on par, yet the whole team was beyond kind and empathetic to each family on the human element needed for these delicate situations. We lost my uncle suddenly and it was not only a shocker for my family, but for my 92 year old grandmother who witnessed it all. The need for understanding and delicacy was at it's utmost best- allowing me to handle most of the business to relieve that stress off my grandmother. They were always there when I needed clarification or help on both scheduling for my grandmother's church mass and the Military funeral that would follow same day that is complicated with getting scheduled in the first place. Hayley was our director and I must say, she was the kindest and most positive person I was fortunate to have helping out with my family. I use the word positive because she was reassuring and so sweet when I needed things or clarification asap. She didn't hesitate to give me her cell and to let me bug her anytime while she was still being attentive to other families. It has to be a difficult job to deal with grieving families day to day and still keep the utmost professionalism and sensitive to each person's needs. She went up and beyond with making sure I had things for the memorial that I didn't even think of, no hesitation. Ashley was so fantastic to assist in anyway she could when Hayley was unavailable. I met with her a few times and the kindness she displayed, I don't even have words for. I appreciate them so much, that as much as I don't want to think about losing a family member, I would work with them in the future no matter what. My mother baked them a 10 lb cheesecake as her way of "tipping" and saying thank you for making such a difficult and heartbreaking loss easier than we even could imagine. That is how much she was happy her experience with them. I highly recommend this team hands down.
I can’t think of a more stressful situation than to have to plan a burial or cremation service for a precious loved one who has just passed, especially when there is an absence of advanced planning. When we called on Curnow for help, their response was immediate in reassuring the family that they would arrive shortly to handle the need to take care of the body. In every interaction I had with the folks from Curnow they were sensitive to the nature of questions. They allowed our family to take its time in making decisions about the details of the cremation process. They have a wealth of information, and will put that to use to answer family’s questions. They have a beautiful space on a website where an obituary can be written and displayed by the family. They also will arrange for friends and family of the deceased to write messages and memories. I am thoroughly satisfied with the experience of working with this funeral home and crematorium.
We belong to people's memorial and we used Curnow funeral home as one of their providers when my mother passed away in evergreen hospital in Kirkland. I worked with Finley Romano and he was excellent. He was so very kind and caring and compassionate and never pushy about anything. His knowledge and expertise help me get through this hard time and I really really appreciate that. I would recommend Finley and curnow funeral home to anyone they are really really good.
Poor communication and follow up. Lack of employees to fulfill obligations. It took 5 hours for our loved one to be picked up with no communication for 2 hours until we called them. Her cremation took several weeks because they sent the contract to the wrong email and no one noticed until weeks later when we called ready to pick up the remains. Employees focused on justifying their mistakes rather than fixing them. In the end they expedited the final steps to finally get our loved one cremated.
This was initially a five star review until it was time to ship my mother’s remains home. They ended up in Virginia instead of Washington state and my messages to the funeral director and owner have gone unanswered. If I can’t get any response from Curnow I guess it’s now going to be an issue for the WA professional licensing board to hear about…

At a time when many funeral homes are owned by mega-corporations and listed on the national stock exchanges, Hill Funeral Home is rising above this trend by remaining a local family owned business. Currently operated by 3rd, 4th and 5th generation Funeral Directors, we are proud to be the only family owned Funeral Home in the Puyallup Valley. As other local, family owned businesses have faded away, been bought out or moved on, Hill's reputation for integrity and honesty, and the efforts of a dedicated staff, has allowed them to continue serving Puyallup to this day.
